Friday OT - Playing Hooky

When I'm playing hooky from retirement, I go to my volunteer gigs. It's like work, but without the hassle of a paycheck.

Either that or watch videos of hot chicks my age doin' a dance on the TikTok tubes.

Have you tried a compression sleeve? I started wearing one to golf last year cause I had tennis elbow (at least that's how I'd describe it). Helps quite a bit for me, not sure if it would help with yours at all.
I tried that, but it made it hurt worse. Some internet sleuthing on my part suggests that my problem might be radial tunnel syndrome (which sleeves actually can make feel worse). I used to install wood floors and that was my weighted mallet arm (my other arm has carpal tunnel and tendinitis from pulling the trigger on the staple gun).

I'm lame. If I miss work, I know my stuff falls on someone else and I'd feel guilty about it, so I never play hooky. The closest I get is I'll ghost certain co-workers if they call me at home while I'm off and doing stuff. Some people take no initiative to fix their own problems and I'm not gonna enable them.

Loving the responses. When it was so nice out I went searching movie podcasts that have done the Ferris movie. Still one of my all time favorites. Mia Sara was so cute.

I have to say the day they had was pretty solid but helps when your in the Chicago area. A nice lunch, sightseeing, a baseball game and hanging at a home pool, not bad.

Top three in order ... Golf, brewery hopping or finding a new place for lunch. I work from home and my BIL also works from home. We both start our work days pretty early so we text each other to see how busy we are for the afternoon/week and see if there's an opening to jet out early for one of the above activities.

I like playing pinball machines. With all the new arcades coming out, the Pinball machines and stand up arcade games are a blast to play. It's pretty cheap entertainment for a few hours. These arcades only charge 25 to 50 cents a play.

you only need 50 cents if you are good enought, right?

Back in the 80's it was Senior Skip Day. Older BIL worked at grocery store and I was the organizer where I ended up collecting money and got a couple of cases of various liquors from him. Friend drank a whole bottle of lime vodka and decided to throw up on our rival schools front sidewalk. Those were the days!

My fondest playing hooky memories were skipping school my junior and senior year in high school to watch the NCAA basketball tournament. My buddies and I still talk about the afternoon when Bryce Drew hit the dagger three and Valpo upset Ole Miss. Call me crazy but I kind of miss the old TV set up when you only got the regional game on CBS and live look ins at close games down the stretch.

My playing hooky time is when husband walks the two year old giant dog who thinks he’s still a puppy on the weekends instead of my 2-3 hour jaunt on weekdays.

I make a pitcher of iced tea, grab a book, and sit on the front porch and watch the bird feeder occasionally.
