Friday OT #3 - Skilled Shot

That's easy........I took piano lessons as a young man, and quit because.....well, because playing the piano wasn't really germane for a young man who wanted to be all that. I did end up playing the trumpet in school, but I really wish I'd stuck with the piano. I'd love to be able to sit down and play whenever I wanted.
The ironic thing is, we have a piano in the house right now.

Learning a second language, most likely Spanish.
Keeping me from doing so: laziness.

Either cooking, playing the piano, or learning another language. And the fact that I don't have the time or know someone to teach me is probably what's keeping me from doing it (that and not having a piano).
Also, I already play the bagpipes, don't have time to play those, and want to pick those up again, so that's also probably keeping me from playing the piano.

took lessons for probably six years and I can play like, one song. Hated practicing and it just didn't come to me as easily as singing did. Wish I could play now though.
Playing guitar, getting better at playing the piano and learning multiple languages.
Oh, and I always wanted to do that cool thing when you're on your back and flip up to your feet.
And maybe learning to throw a ninja star.

Like others, piano and/or guitar. Also with I'd given more effort in French classes in HS. I took all four levels, but the last two years just did enough to get through the class with a decent grade. I'm okay reading it, if I have time to think about what I'm reading, but I have a hard time trying to understand conversations.
Currently teaching myself American Sign Language and hoping to find a formal course when I a.) have the money for a course and b.) can find one nearby that fits my schedule.

My son is graduating and going into computer programming. Over the summer, we are both taking an online class to learn game programming (probably using the Unreal engine). If that goes well, it's very possible that I will pursue some more marketable programming skills and make a career change.

I really wish I could be "handy". I'm a entirely incompetent when it comes to fixing things, putting things together, etc. My father-in-law is the ultra handyman and I can't tell you how embarrassing it is to have him come over to fix something when the solution is obvious. I can see it killing him inside a little bit each time realizing his daughter married putz like me.

My mother gave me piano lessons when she had time,which wasn't often enough. I used to be decent enough at it, but don't play often enough due to time and the fact that for some reason my husband has to cover every flat surface in the house with his reading material so he always has a stack of stuff sitting on the piano bench and I am too lazy to move it. I think I would be fine if I played more though and it is something that always feels peaceful to me.
Easy for me. Automotive Mechanics. I know how to change my oil, change lightbulbs, things like that. If it gets beyond that though, I'm at the mercy of a damn garage, and I have serious trust issues.

I'm the same way, although I'm handy enough to barely get by. For me it's my dad that shakes his head. My father-in-law and brother-in-law are the most unhandy people imaginable. I'm surprised my brother-in-law can even mow his own lawn. We were putting together a basketball hoop for him that has sat in his garage for 6 years a few weekends ago and he still didn't know the difference between a flat head and phillips screwdriver.
Like others have said, if I could learn one random skill that wouldn't really lead to financial type gain, it might to be awesome at piano. Even if I learned how to play, I don't think I'd ever have the ear or skill musically to do what I'd want to do though. I'd want to be able to just freestyle songs or hear other music and instantly be able to play it on a piano.

Electric work. I'm pretty handy when working with wood, metal, automotive, etc. but I never learned enough about wiring and electric work. I can change fixtures, switches, outlets and stuff but beyond that, I know enough to not get myself killed and that's about it.
As far as learning it, I haven't run into anything that I couldn't have someone with more knowledge do for me.

I'm pretty musically talented for the most part and can play piano and guitar a little bit but I would love to be really good at both.
Golf would probably be my biggest one though. Most of my friends that I golf with are at least consistent bogey golfers with a few being really good. I have days where I don't look completely incompetent, but still I consider getting a bogey an accomplishment. And then there's days like Wednesday where I look like I've never swung a club before. I love golfing with my friends but dang it can get frustrating

I'd like to learn how to throw 3 stars at once without anyone knowing where they came from, but you're right, learning just one first is probably a smart idea.
