...umm...in what strange, cloud-nine world did you attend middle school?! Even the few "fond recollections" I have of ms are painful - like the time I didn't get baptized by the school bully...
Glad I'm not the only one. Dave Grohl is an awesome person, but I can not listen to their music.
Those bands just were not my cup of tea. I have no problem if you enjoy them.
I'm beginning to wonder if we were separated at birth. We think alike.

Meh, wasn't that bad. Thinking more about the summer nights and all the meaningful "firsts" we experienced.
I did not care for Men at Work, but I will say that if you get a chance to see Colin Hay now a days, go! he is fantastic and tells a lot of great stories.
Also, Tears for Fears and Men at Work had multiple hits. Flock of Seagulls and Soft Cell, I'll let the one-hit wonder label slide. (I realize you didn't say that in your post.)
Usually Janis Joplin makes these lists. Kind of surprised no one mentioned her.

I won't say I hate Led Zeppelin, but I don't have any of their albums. A few singles I got in some boxes of records along the way.
It took me a while to figure out why I didn't care for most of their music. It finally dawned on me that I don't care for Robert Plant's style of singing. I'm NOT saying he's not an extremely talented vocalist, I just don't care for his style. (I had a similar reaction to Elvis Costello's vocals, which I got over fairly quickly, but still a few exceptions there, too.)
Which carried over to other hard rock vocalists that emulated his (Plant's) style - which is why I generally have no interest in heavy metal or hair bands in general.

LOL stuff those kids in the car and go. We would bring 7 neighbor kids home from BB practice most nights LOL.
