Friday OT #2 - INTJ

biggest one was that I'm afraid of confrontation. I almost run into it...weird.

Ah, that makes sense! I was curious, because I could see the entertainer element of it!

Pretty spot on actually. I think you'd agree @Angie

'THE ENTERTAINER'
The ESFP Personality Type
ESFPs are vivacious entertainers who charm and engage those around them. They are spontaneous, energetic, and fun-loving, and take pleasure in the things around them: food, clothes, nature, animals, and especially people.

ESFPs are typically warm and talkative and have a contagious enthusiasm for life. They like to be in the middle of the action and the center of attention. They have a playful, open sense of humor, and like to draw out other people and help them have a good time.

What does ESFJ stand for?
ESFJ is an acronym used to describe one of the sixteen personality types created by Katharine Briggs and Isabel Myers. It stands for Extraverted, Sensing, Feeling, Judging. ESFJ indicates a person who is energized by time spent with others (Extraverted), who focuses on facts and details rather than ideas and concepts (Sensing), who makes decisions based on feelings and values (Feeling) and who prefers to be planned and organized rather than spontaneous and flexible (Judging). ESFJs are sometimes referred to as Provider personalities because of their interest in taking care of others in practical ways.

ESFJs are conscientious helpers, sensitive to the needs of others and energetically dedicated to their responsibilities. They are highly attuned to their emotional environment and attentive to both the feelings of others and the perception others have of them. ESFJs like a sense of harmony and cooperation around them, and are eager to please and provide.

ESFJs value loyalty and tradition, and usually make their family and friends their top priority. They are generous with their time, effort, and emotions. They often take on the concerns of others as if they were their own, and will attempt to put their significant organizational talents to use to bring order to other people's lives.

I have taken the test several times for different reasons. I originally scored far to the outside edge of each category. Each subsequent scoring (over about 35 years), I have moved more toward the middle. Maybe I'm mellowing with age?

Side note - does it bother anyone else that they spell extrovert with an "a"??

Well, let me think - I've known you since you were in 7th and I was in 6th when we moved to town... and that's pretty damn-spot on from middle school on! Just going to have fun, which is an awesome time! :)

What is bizarre since we've always gotten along is that I'm the total and exact opposite (INTJ-A) - introverted, coldly logical with no nuance, and uncomfortable around feelings. :D

ENTJ-A

I’ve been taking Myers-Briggs tests for years and always come out either ENTJ or ESTJ.

I’m one of 5 extroverts on the internet. My desire for interaction and conversation is pretty much constant, and message boards fill the gaps when the people I know in real life (or myself) aren’t available or interested. What’s great about message boards is that you can find conversation about things that interest you, but no one in your life gives a rip about.

I think introverts enjoy exchanging ideas without actually talking to people, and that’s what draws them.

If I could have real life conversations about things that interest me, in a constant fashion, I probably would.

Isn't the supervillainy thing dead-on? Like, doesn't it make you worry a little bit that you're a robot sociopath? But then not worry too much, because you're a robot sociopath.

Yeah, I've occasionally thought about going full Unabomber. But really feels like that would be a lot of work.

Also, I do have enough empathy to make it not really a thing.

I think this is accurate, and nothing I've really thought about a ton. I don't mind talking to people in small groups, or about things that actually interest me. It's the small talk in big crowds that I find draining and useless (hence the INTJ) - the internet cuts through all of that bull****.

Yeah, the coldly logical part of us realizes that it's not worth all of the effort. ;)

But I agree - I do have empathy. I just sometimes think people's lack of logic got them into some situations. Which is judgmental, and I know it.

I must be the second extrovert. :D

I am INTJ, which THIS SITE summarizes well for each type if you are interested in learning about your own:

View attachment 67648

Also an INTJ for what it is worth. Worked for the Corps of Engineers and that is supposedly the agencies profile to. Might be why I generally got along with the engineers and could manage engineering teams without actually being an engineer. The introvert part surprises the people I work with but I know them and so it is different. Among friends, can be extroverted compared to them. Among complete strangers, totes introvert that needs an "invitation" to participate, kind of an introvert that does not like or want to be such. Like me at a recent ISU reception surrounded by big shot donors (out of my league) and thinking I should probably go say some to Pres. Wendy and the AD even though I know they don't really want to talk with little old me. And thinking, ooh, I wish someone would introduce me to Bridget Carleton since I am a big WBB fan. Did those, but was proceeded by much internal debate.

I already know I'm an INT and it's not close. About 50/50 for the J-P

But I got INTP-A - Logician. (regardless of the common opinion around here).

That also doesn't surprise me at all. I can also come across as extroverted - I have found the phrase "extroverted introvert," and it feels like it sort of describes how I feel most of the time. I can be very social with people I trust and with whom I enjoy speaking - I just don't want to insert myself or to strike up a deliberately dull and uninteresting conversation. Life is too short for that.

INTJs are also sarcastic and have dark humor - who'd have guessed, eh? ;)

I understand why people hate small talk, but I find it kind of fascinating. You figure out what makes people tick through it, in my experience.

I should clarify that I will watch others' small talk and observe things through it. I totally agree with you - I just don't like to be the one participating in it, if that makes sense.

I find some of the Jungian and other personality tests fascinating.

What is your Myers-Briggs personality type? (If you can include an explanation, that's awesome). Do you think you represent the explanation?

I am an INTJ, too!

You are my waifu, @Angie.
