I don’t think we have ever just done a thread before on what genres of music everyone listens to most?

I listen to mostly indie and rap/hip hop, with some rock thrown in. Quite a bit of punk and jazz. That is a pretty wide swath, I guess.

I’m deaf in one ear so I like things with lots of bass and have gravitated towards electronic music quite heavily. Though I wouldn’t say music is a big part of my life at all probably because of the ear thing

Pretty much anything that isn't on a recent top 40 list. Lots of classical, rock, jazz, edm, hip hop, older country, and some pretty obscure stuff. My spotify library is a lot of 'I know them' next to 'who the hell is that'

I can't be only one who can go from Willy Nelson to House of Pain to Rachmaninoff

Pretty much anything 50s-mid 70's. Not so much country or the crooners/MOR stuff like Barbra and Dean Martin etc, but most anything else. I take occasional deep dives into doo-wop, rockabilly, and British Invasion specifically.

Also a soft spot for some of the late 70's to mid 80's pop/nu-wave punk stuff.

And I normally listen to Sirius THE BRIDGE (70's soft rock) on Sundays to keep it a bit more low key that day.

Edit: Also will take a deep dive into vintage R&B/Soul. Up to around 1970 or so. Really find early 60's is my sweet spot for that stuff.

Little bit of everything. No heavy metal or hard rap. Used to listen to country but since so much of it is Bro Country anymore it's not that. Truck radio is set to a classic rock station.

Mostly country, early 2000s and older. Really getting into Sturgill, Childers etc lately.

But I do enjoy a lot of music from the 90s and 2000s regardless of genre.

More confirmation that I am MeanDean's musical twin from another mother (and father). Grateful (but not Dead) to him and the others who run "On That Note". It allows me to revisit my childhood, and digital also allows me to hear and understand all the words now.

Mostly 80s and 90s alternative... The Replacements is probably my #1 band of all time. Along with them, REM, The Smiths, Pavement, Radiohead. I do like some more contemporary stuff like MGMT, Glass Animals. Also like old country and Sturgill Simpson. And my guy Ludovico Einaudi when those soft, introspective moods strike.

Little bit of almost everything, mostly depends on mood. Will listen to classical at work a lot. Will listen to polka on sunday mornings. Lots of Tool, Pink Floyd, Zepplin, similar heavy-ish rock. Blues and jazz, especially live. Old country and such (think Tom T Hall, Marty Robbins) that reminds me of Dad.

About the only thing I just flat out don't like is rap/hip-hop. And I am getting burned out on 60s-70s-80s pop oldies because the guy outside my office listens to it slightly too loud all day long. If I hear "Last Train to Clarksville" one more time I will snap.

I am ALL over the map

Hip Hop-Older Kanye and Kendrick Lamar. When I was young I liked groups like Public Enemy, and BDP(I'm old).

Country-I listen to nothing from the last 20 or so years. I like a certain type and that's it. Waylon, Willie, and Merle. Once in awhile will listen to old Garth Brooks.

Yacht Rock-I love listening to Yacht Rock playlists. Michael McDonald, Hall and Oats, Christopher Cross, etc.

Current Rock-I like Jack White and Greta Van Fleet and that's about it.

Classic Rock-Like about 90% of it

Grunge-Like about 90%

Jazz-Love Billie Holiday

Blues-Muddy Waters and Buddy Guy

I worked at a record store for years. After awhile you can start to find stuff from almost any style.

Our kid is picking up on the mix.

He likes Nat King Cole, Gladys Knight & the Pips, Blackstreet, Hammer, Van Halen, techno, big band, Hair Nation, the Beatles, etc.

Gotta get him into some Conway, George, Don Williams, Willie, etc. There's work to do!

I thought it was "Saturday Night I WENT downtown.

I do find lyrics - on - line accuracy to be very iffy in many cases.

OK, I renounce our twinship. When I want nitpicking, I go read something in French.

:mccaffery:

What's more, AZ lyrics says

Saturday night I was downtown
Working for the FBI
Sittin' in a nest of bad men
Whiskey bottles piling high
