Friday OT #2 - Childish Pleasures

There is another show with a lot of makeup and prosthetics on the characters and I don't know the name. I find the villain and even some of the other characters - especially the puppets - super creepy. I don't know why anyone would let their kids watch it. Anyone know what one I am flailing about trying to describe?

Found it: Lazytown

Yeah. That show was weird.

Disney and Nick Jr have a surprising number of shows that I can tolerate and even enjoy sometimes. Sofia the First, PJ Masks, Octonauts, Team Umizoomi, and Paw Patrol are the ones I can think of off the top of my head. On the other hand, Peppa Pig makes me want to rupture my eardrums with a screwdriver.

Curious George. My five year old has moved onto obnoxious and loud stuff like Pokemon, Transformers, etc. I have a five month old and I'm looking forward to the PBS Kids era with her. That's some good stuff. Curious George, Peg + Cat, Wild Kratts...but never Caillou. **** you, Caillou.

Octonauts is solid. I like Miles of Tomorrowland too, but I can't remember if that's Disney Jr or Nick Jr.

Sorry, Erik, I have to agree with the others. Every time I see them snort and roll around in the dirt, I want to punch a pig.

We've avoided all Caillou like the plague.

I will say one thing for Peppa Pig - at least she has caregivers who are, like, nominally interested in her welfare. Not usually the case on Nick Jr.

Dora's parents let her wander around with a monkey wearing shoes and a talking backpack through gator-filled swamps and creepy forests. Max and Ruby have no discernible guardians, except a grandma who shows up, like, once a season. The Wonderpets were just random classroom animals. The Fresh Beat Band was apparently sent to a coed boarding school with no RAs, and the one tall one seemed mildly mentally disadvantaged. Dino Dan's mom was present, but she didn't seem to care that he's a paranoid schizophrenic.

**All of these observations were from snow days, like, five years ago, so I may be off-base these days.

Peppa Pig and Calliou can **** off! All of those pigs are annoying as hell and Calliou is a whiney little brat that needs to be on the receiving end of his old mans belt.

I can't wait until my kids are old enough to be introduced to Ren and Stimpy. Looking back, that was a pretty dark show but I could still binge watch the **** out of it now. Doug and Angry Beavers are also a couple shows that I could still appreciate.
