Friday OT #2 - Childish Pleasures

I thought this was going to be a thread about pooping or playing with my *****.

My kids haven't been little for a long time, but when they were, I enjoyed Legends of the Hidden Temple, The Magic School Bus, Spongebob, and Rugrats. Could probably quote most episodes of Thomas the Tank Engine. Even though Scooby Doo was not on the air much when he was little, my second oldest was obsessed with Scooby Doo and every time we went to the library, had to check out Scooby Doo videos as well.

I occasionally babysit neighbor kids and my nieces' kids, and they are all into Paw Patrol, which is all right.

Okay, who ya got?
Ringo Starr,
Alec Baldwin,
George Carlin or
Pierce Brosnan?

We've got one on the way. Which shows should I get a jump start on?

Congrats!

Our youngest didn't watch TV even a little until about 20 months. He has consistently liked Mickey Mouse Clubhouse (TMBG do the soundtrack) and Backyardigans (which is not making new episodes). Blue's Clues is a viable option in the rotation, as is Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood on PBS. My daughter loved Dora, but I'm glad that's gone from our rotation. The 2.5 year old likes anything with trucks/motorcycles/tractors now.

On the flip side, how about annoying childhood shows? I'll go first.

Teletubbies

For those of you that have young kids now, be thankful that you missed this. I am thankful for the ISU football Teletubbies gif, though.

Anyone have kids long enough ago to have watched The Gargoyles? Oldest two loved that show. Demona kind of scared me. And they let me read Macbeth to them because of that show

Partial to Carlin. But you omitted the Michaels (Brandon and Angelis).
I did, but if I listed them nearly everyone would have said, "Who?"

Whenever I saw Carlin I couldn't get past his live show I have seen and how the material made it impossible for me to see him doing a children's show.

I watched Teletubbies a few times with my oldest when he was a baby. Couldn't stand it.

One other one I HATED was The Wiggles. Just creepy and weird.

Even creepier one that I avoided instead of watching was The Doodlebops. Those things gave me the heebie jeebies.

Could never get past playing a guitar or keyboard with those fat fingers. Ain't gonna happen.

My all time no go was Barney; saccharin sweet in an already cavity filled genre.

Something about the Doodlebop costumes just creeped me the **** out.
