Friday OT #1 - Bracket Busting

The first couple of bracket pools I did (many years ago) a friend who organized the pool did it that way.
I recall wanting to maximize choices for the next weekend's matchups ... you want to have at least one team alive in each quadrant (better yet, two) in the Sweet 16 and same for Final Four. Minimize "dead" brackets. (If that's how you do it - maybe your system is slightly different).

Kentucky and Houston were my other two in the Final Four.
So obviously I'm going to do very well in the office pool this year.

Yeah, that’s pretty much it. My parents’ generation did it that way because the real reason for the pool was as a way to stay in touch because people had moved across the country (and my cousin’s and I have the same goal). So when that’s the goal, it’s more important to keep everyone engaged and repicking every two rounds helps.

Some year, I'm actually going to pick one bracket purely by favorite team nicknames (my results probably wouldn't be any less-accurate). This season, I would've chosen Peacocks and Blue Hens in first round, for example.
I have UK and Villanova to F4 in most of my brackets (and meeting in title game in one) so if Nova loses today, I'm complete toast.
Related to the theme ... CBS has a perfect-bracket tracker. I have a feeling none of us are still on it.
