Ford Fusion

I have a 2008 Taurus with 127,000 miles on it and it still drives wonderful. I did have to put a new drive shaft in it for about $250 a month back, but am sure that's as much my fault as any as I drive a lot of gravel roads and even farm fields. That's the only money I've ever had to spend on the car.

My impression is that Ford does build a pretty good product.

The Transmission in the altimas takes some getting used to. We had an 05' maxima that we loved but it was totaled in an accident. ( side air bags saved my wife's life ) test drove an '11 Altima thinking it would be comparable to the maxima but just a bit smaller. It drove nothing like the maxima. Never been a huge ford fan, but they are putting out some of the best looking vehicles on the road right now. It sounds like they are pretty dependable too.

Yeah, Fords look pretty cool. Except for the Explorer - that is just one weird looking vehicle.

When I replace my Altima (hopefully many, many years down the road) I'm looking at the Ford Taurus and the Nissan Maxima. My wife seems to be pretty in love with the GMC Acadia, so when we go to replace my Pontiac Grand Prix (which has been a pretty great vehicle in itself), that is probably what we are going to go with, considering she'll be the primary driver on it. I would like to hold onto the Grand Prix for many more years, but it is not a family-friendly car, as the back seat is small as hell, I can't have an infant seat behind the driver seat (as I have to have the seat all the way back and it just doesn't fit), my daughter being behind the driver's seat would be uncomfortable for her, and, unfortunately, every time I try putting her in the car seat I accidentally bump her head on the top side of the door opening. We're just outgrowing that car, which is a shame because it has many years left on it.

I like Acadia's, but unless they change the car I would never consider getting one, their "real" gas milage sucks.

I do pretty much like all of Ford's current lineup. I'm honestly probably 5 to 8 years from buying any car. Ford has a great chance of getting my business next time around. With a used anyway, so that's why I'm looking at the current models.

We have 15,000 miles on our 2012 Fusion. Have not had any problems and are satisfied. The one thing that I question is the extra cowling under the front bumper. It looks sporty and I did not have any trouble with it last winter but last winter was unusual. I wish it had more clearance for snow and may update to a newer design if that changes on future models. I have had friends that worked for Ford, (got their engineering degree from ISU) they should remember what Iowa winters are like.
