There were quite a few spots left over when I just chose.
The net gain did not result from adding Vet Med to donor sections in the plan from what I read/saw. I believe they added Vet med because of the sections being under construction. Whether those remain donor or not after construction, I guess is yet to be seen. It wasnt a net gain of donor spots, but of total spots, so Vet med etc were always included in the number, before and after, just not as donor spots.I don't think there will be an announced cutoff as the addition of the 750 spots at Ved Med for Donor Parking will show plenty of available parking for donors. That accounts for 17.8% of the 4057 available non-reserved lot spaces as of 4:00PM.
B1 and C1/C2 makeup 26.2% of the available lot spaces
G6 is at 4%
All in, 48.7% of the current available lot spaces are not in the main tailgating area that has made our Gameday experience what it is and what we are used to. We all knew there would be change but I'm pointing this out for the "we had a net gain of more parking" narrative folks...
I ran numbers a year ago and recall that it came out around 60/hour for 7 hours.does anyone know how many parking sections are made per day.. just curious..

There are currently about 800 slots south of Hilton, so those will likely run out by Tuesday if the pace is the same.

This remains to be seen and I'm going to need to see it to believe it. The drive lanes are going to have to be enforced this year because of the lack of every aisle having an entrance from the main feeders. Tailgating is going to be significantly different from what it has been in the past. And most of us will continue to be able to park and tailgate just like we always have.
100% agree. We'll see what athletics thought of it. I dont have the measurements but if they threw together a Target parking lot designed to maximize parking spots people are rightly going to be angry. If they took a Target parking lot and added a 10' driving lane down the middle of each row that's a different story. It's long overdue to enforce driving lanes. I get spreading out and all but sheesh.
Yes. We need more than a standard spot. Give room for a truck and a tent behind it.100% agree. We'll see what athletics thought of it. My understanding the donor level and points control the pick time not the location for football. So when your turn comes pick whatever you consider is best available. RV lots and S lots are exempt. For basketball you are limited to location based on donor level. So can a lower level donor select a higher level donor lot if spots in the higher level donor lot still remain when it's the lower level donor's turn to select?
I’m #309 out of 1250 in Cardinal and my time is tomorrow at noon so I’m guessing they will start today.Anybody know if Cardinal has started picking yet? Hoping C1/C2 lasts until Wednesday AM, but it's getting close. B1 isn't that much further, but I'd prefer C.
My guess is they maintained parking by squeezing more vehicles into the same amount of space and getting rid of tent, table, etc. space but we won't know that until the parking layout actually gets painted.
The initial CYTown phase renderings show all parking going to perpendicular vs. the current angled spots. Similar to Target parking. And looking at the dimensions on the phase renderings compared to a quick Google Earth measurement of the Target parking lot in Ames show the new CYTown parking will most likely be almost identical to Target parking.100% agree. There are 450 3s left. So add in a little over 500 c1/2s and you need to be at the end of cardinal to miss out if it starts this morning.Anybody know if Cardinal has started picking yet? Hoping C1/C2 lasts until Wednesday AM, but it's getting close. B1 isn't that much further, but I'd prefer C.
They haven't done any work to C3 and C4 except cut off the East entrances. The two lots are still separate, but put together for selection. I doubt much else will change (lack of time) before football season. This was as of yesterday when I stopped.C3. Which used to be C4. We've been in C4 for a long time. Long live C3!
