Football Fan Map

First, this is an old map/article from 2014. We've all seen it already (other than you, obviously), and its been discussed before (I'm sure someone can find an old thread)

Second, you post this like we are all going to be mad and/or don't already understand this. Its no secret Iowa has more fans in this state. However, the gap is nowhere near the size it was 20 years ago.

This also happened in 2014

Everyone always remembers Nader going off and Georges kiss but Monte had the two most underrated things of that game. First his block on Gesell at the end of the half and the other was when he looked over at the psycho courtside seat guy Iowa has kept saying "too easy"

So the fans don't go very far across the borders between states? Am I supposed to start thinking that KU, Kentucky, and Syracuse are good at football?

This Douche McGee Johnny Dakota is the person who yells 'Go Hoks' on his way into Walmart on Sunday morning if he even sees cardinal colors. Pure Hokdom at its finest--no wonder their fans are known for their belligerence.

What a stupid thread and I feel stupid for opening it.

Immediately notice:
A&M has a much larger presence than that, especially into Houston.
Penn State goes way more into NY and Syracuse isn't that followed.
No way does Oregon cover that much real estate.

Surprised to see that much Iowa in Southern Minnesota, then again, it's probably Iowa natives who just live across the border, and you can see how ambivalent Minnesotans are about college sports.

I lived in the 'Iowa shaded' part of southern Minnesota for 10 years and it was 90% Gopher country. The accuracy of this map is questionable, at best.

Iowa has more fans, money, and tradition. No one is disputing that. However, the gap has been closing and still is.

The fact that as an athletic whole, ISU often out performs Iowa on much less money, fans, and tradition speaks volumes.

Kansas State is another one of those unlucky teams without a major Facebook presence and thus that can't even claim its home ZIP code.

This four year old experiment feels valid to me.

I was wondering about the Montana & half of North Dakota affinity for Oregon also.
UW does not cover all of eastern Washington (although it definitely does have a larger fan base than WSU). EWSU is a growing commodity in football also, if I remember correctly.
