First Concert?

I saw Dylan again this past summer and he was terrible. Fortunately My Morning Jacket and Wilco opened for Dylan. I'll never pay to see Dylan again if given the opportunity.

I would love to see Wilco.

Dylan has written some incredible music, but the guy can't sing his way out of a wet paper bag. Pay to listen to someone else perform his songs...like Peter, Paul & Mary (the route I chose).

Side note...I may have to start visiting the Jones County Fair!

Was at that concert too. To this day Bon Jovi's Rouliette is one of my favorite songs....but never liked anything that followed their debut album. I knew they would be huge before long.

See if any of the young ones know the story behind the name of my first without using Google. First concert was Chicago Transit Authority at the Iowa State Fair early 70's.

If we're going to go with BEST concert experience, that would have to be the Rolling Stones at Jack Trice back in 1989. Snuck down into the lower level with a couple of friends, close enough to be able to see Jagger's lips & Richard's wrinkles.

We stood so jam-packed together at the bottom of the southwest stairwell that we all moved as "one unit". The Fire Marshall would have had a field day with us!

I tell ya, though...55K+ voices singing Ruby Tuesday...it was an experience like no other.
Like Sweet Caroline?

Like Sweet Caroline?

If you get specific about which time (like November 18th, 2011), then yeah...pretty close!

Don't know your age, don't know if you're familiar with Ruby Tuesday, but it's got a chorus that is very easy to sing...and sing loudly. I swear you could hear us in Huxley that night. The whole crowd was swaying together...not that we had a choice; you couldn't possibly fall down because all the bodies jammed in around you would hold you up.

Best Concert for me was Pink Floyd in Ames before it was JTS
second best would be Nine Inch Nails at Five Seasons center in CR after the flood in 08
third best would be White Zombie also at Five Seasons center in CR.

First concert and also first experience buying from a scalper.
I was 16 or 17 talked to a girl at a party the night before, she said she was talking about going to the state fair the next day I told her I could go with her. First date. Took her little Toyota truck, got a flat tire on the interstate. Had to crawl under and unscrew the spare from under the bed. Got it on, let the jack down, the spare was flat. Had to walk 1/2 mile to the nearest exit "1994 so before cell phones" long story short, got someone to bring us air on the interstate.
Walked in the fair, Brooks and Dunn were playing bought tickets offa scalper didn't check them close. Got into the concert the tickets were not seated together!
I sat by her anyway. Will never forget my first concert.

Alabama at Hilton Coliseum circa '84? '85ish? I was real little, I only remember the mult colored lights and riding in my grandparents sweet van with the bed and the card table in it up to Ames.

This topic got started on another forum I use and I found it pretty interesting to hear whose all seen what and where.

I'll start...

Tool-Cedar Rapids,IA
Freshman year of high school and I had no idea what I was getting myself into. They had people in full body paint swinging upside down from the ceiling. Extremely trippy but to this day it ranks right up there for me.

Top three concerts I have been to:

OAR-Red Rocks
Matisyahu- Simon Estes, Des Moines
George Strait-Cowboys Dancehall San Antonio,TX

First show was Sting right after the break-up of The Police at the Five Seasons Center in Cedar Rapids.

A couple all-time favorites:
80's - REM at Palmer Auditorium in '87, and Oingo Boingo at the Col Ballroom.
90's - Bob Mould at the Fox Theater in Boulder, and Phish at Red Rocks
00's - Wilco at Red Rocks
10's - Ryan Adams in a tiny theater for 400 people. My Morning Jacket in 2012 at Red Rocks, Wilco at Vail Snow Daze.

At some point a thread could include the "Most disappointing show you ever attended".

I waver back and forth on Ryan Adams, but enjoyed him when I saw him.
