First Commit

It would be huge to get Curt Maggitt. You guys see all his offers hes gotten already? It's rediculous! He'd by far be our highest ranked commit if we get him. Fingers crossed...

Rob Standard. Rb from Missouri. We are his only Big 6 offer to date, and he has taken two unofficial visits. Austin Blythe committed to Iowa today as well, so the ISU name is not gaining much more traction in the state these days.

Blythe was an Iowa lock from day 1, has nothing to do with ISU or its name. He was a born and bred hawk from eastern Iowa.

It really is as simple as that. Reading his committment story says just that.

We are not Standard's only BCS offer, he also has an offer from Nebraska.

Really? When did he receive that? That is really going to hurt our chances, since Pelini appears to be reinstalling the ground and pound offense.

As for Blythe, I am least concerned with losing a highly ranked lineman. Ranking means less for lineman than any other position in football IMO. Success is almost entirely a product of your coaching staff, and dedication and work ethic. That being said, Blythe will probably be a first round pick, since the staff at Iowa is awesome for linemen, and the natural ability he brings will give him an edge.

Knowing about the Nebraska offer, I am going to guess that our first committ is now going to be Nick Stoner, the other guy that was excited by a D1 offer.

Rhoads will get the recruits, plus I would take a two-three star Texas kid over a four-five star Iowa kid and I played football. The comparisons are not even close with Texas and Iowa high school football. For instance is there anyone that wishes we would have gotten Derby over Barnett? Not me.

Sounds promising. Are the Ames and Des Moines areas producing any good talent this year? The last great recruit I remember from the area was Bernstine, and he ended up at Iowa.
