Agreed, with Tech. With two great seasons and back to back lottery picks, Beard is going to have a lot to sell transfers on this offseason. I bet they pull in multiple high level guys that way.
He has another big job also. He is the Assistant Vice President of Marketing Communications at St Josephs University. So he does not just do ESPN
We have a lot more talent coming back than some of our fans are giving us credit for.
I would be shocked if we're a 4, I see us more in the 7-9 range. Kansas will be similar to this year, not bad but nothing special. Texas Tech will probably land some good recruits and stay good. I think Baylor and Texas both improve. Big 12 could be pretty weak next year though with no dominant team. Good for us with all of the scoring we're losing
Cook is gone, Fran is a horrible coach and they are certain to have a late season collapse as always. Yes the play in the worst (but most overrated) Power 5 league and that's the only reason why they made the dance this year and will be on the bubble again next year.
Reverse-engineering a scenario where it happens...
-- the half-court offensive efficiency drops, but we make up for it with a faster pace in bursts, better rebounding numbers, more steals, and more consistent defense
-- the defense picks up from last year without the huge crash in February
-- Haliburton becomes one of the best sophomores in the country, reminding us of the aggressive, confident senior Diante Garrett leading the team
-- I hope we are staying this was "Tyrese's team" come next spring
-- Nixon is not the volume scorer that Shayok is, but he plays above his size on defense and brings a toughness the perimeter that we lacked last season
-- Solomon gives us that same quiet toughness on the block that we missed, too, and is capable of making a match-up nightmare like Wesson or Doke no longer a mismatch
-- Jacobson, Solomon, and Conditt become a good 1-2-3 rotation for the big men
-- one of the incoming or returning wings (Lewis, Griffin, and Leech) surprises, becoming a good Big 12 starter, and one more of them is acceptable bench depth
-- Prohm brings in 1-2 more perimeters players who can chew minutes in the Big 12, and/or somebody like Jackson surprises us like freshman Haliburton
-- we land somebody like Grill or Nadolny, and they can play 15 minutes per night well
-- the team plays together, like the 2016-2017 team, with Haliburton taking over that talkative Naz role and Jacobson throwing a ball at somebody in practice to set the tone
-- no injuries, and the new guys who come in fill their roles with aplomb
Basically... everything has to go as well as it could...
...and everybody has to develop about as far as we can imagine them doing so.
Agree, They have 9 guys with legitimate game experience coming back from a team that won 23 games. Franny will probably mess it up by trying to rotate all of them into every game, but they should be a decent team.

You could. Start a website, start publishing articles and information and show why you are an expert. Start publishing brackets and why you think your brackets are correct. Start a podcast and a youtube channel. I'm sure the way these 24 hour networks need to fill space, eventually you'll get a call. It certainly can't be that big of a challenge to be more photogenic than Lunardi, that's for sure.
I'm not a fan of Lunardi at all, but honestly, to just think he woke up one morning with ESPN calling him to talk brackets out of the blue and just fell into this job is pretty naive. Weather or not he knows brackets, he certainly put the work in to make himself a name in the college basketball world. I have to give him credit for that.
Good points. The sports world has caught up to him for sure, as far as ability to bracket-build, but he was among first ones working for a high-profile source to do bracketing. I won't ignore that aspect of it.
Take of your blinders. Cook may be gone but EIU has lots of talent returning. I believe they also add like 4 players, a few that redshirted and a freshman or 2. Theyll probably be pretty decent next year unfortunately. Hopefully we arent bad as it will be horrible listening to the media talk about them all season

Over half our schedule will be tournament teams. Probably not a good year for that! But, let's remember you don't know what you have until the season starts. We were so fired up last summer for this past season, then lack of chemistry and too many hurt feelings plus all the injuries did us in. Maybe next year's team will play well together and stay healthy.
I'll be interested to see what their schedule looks like and if their defense will ever improve.
