Fire Mess

I haven't thought that the playcalling has been as bad as the horrible execution. It hasn't been great and Mess has gone away from things that have worked only to continue with some staples that seem to be very ineffectively and easily schemed and played by the defenses. On the whole, it has looked like a brand new coordinator at the BCS level to me. I think it may be a case of our 'simplicity' coming back to bite us, because we're finding that we don't have a lot to turn to when our bread and butter stuff is stymied. Overall, I see awful execution from basically every unit. OL can't make holes for the run game or pass protect worth a darn. The QB can't make simple throws when the WRs and TEs manage to get open, which is not terribly consistently. Our RBs I think have been decent on the whole, but without the OL doing its job, they haven't been effective. I think the playbook Mess looking at has him saying as he turns the pages, "We can't do that right now. Nope. Not a good fit. Can't do that. That's getting blown up a lot. Hhhmmmm." We're seeing 3-4 other conference teams giving substantial snaps to the redshirt frosh QBs - I think now is the time for us to do the same. It's clear we're not getting into the top half of the conference with this offense. Whatever what as the plan, we need to start improvising a little.

It doesn't matter what call is being played if the defensive linemen are in the backfield as soon as the ball is snapped.

How do you know that play calling is the problem? How do you know it isn't execution that is the problem?

I don't care what it is, he's the boss and he needs to step up and publicly address some of these concerns. If it's his play calling he needs to acknowledge that. If it's the execution CPR needs to address the recruiting situation.

The point is there is mutiny afoot and letting it stew does nothing. Address it head on and show respect to the fans that have thankfully started expecting decent football.

If nothing else, we definitely need to look at a new philosophy over all. If we can't get the athletes for the spread, then we have to look at something else. It's been 4 years of this same thing. I know Mess is new to the job, but it's basically the same thing we've had the last 4 years, and instead of improving, it's gotten more inept, imo. If it had even stayed stagnant I'd be willing to hope it could improve. Right now, it's got to be scrapped. If that means Mess has to go, then so be it. This **** isn't working.

mutiny is a bit strong. If that's the case im embarrassed to be a cyclone.

CPR doesn't owe the fans an explanation, however, I get the feeling unlike Mac he will pull the plug on a coach if it is not a good fit. Talent on the O-line with Hicks and KO may have hid a lot of issues with Bliel or recruiting, especially with all the praise that we heard early on about how the line plays better together than in prior years without those 2 guys being a focus.

I don't see enough games to know, maybe you all can help. But for all the depth and great RB's we thought we had before the season started how is it than not one of them ever gets more than 4-5 carries in a game? We need a guy that get 15-20 carries a game, every game. Impossible to get in any sort of rhythm with that few carries.

Arnaud will be a great quarterback coach in college. I've seen him at Ames, and he is really involved with the players. And he doesn't just work with the quarterback when the offense has struggles, he takes control and gets everyone together and does a great job at pumping everyone up.

Heck, bring in Bruns as OL coach as well.

Barnett couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. Time to give Jantz another shot. If that fails, give Sammy a shot. He may not be "ready" but he could provide a spark that wins the game. The oline is the worst I have seen in years. Just horrible. But Barnett needs to make the passes that were eaily doable instead of burying it in the dirt 2 yards in front of the receiver. So many frustrations. We are dependant on the defense every posession.

He only put a few in the dirt today but don't let my facts get in the way.

barring injury, Jantz should be done. He had his chances. there is no discernable difference between JB and Jantz other than Jantz is more accurate in his interceptions. JB is the best option when the team can run the ball, that is the biggest problem - they can't run. No one on the roster is going to look good as a primary passing team as we just don't the receivers to get the consistent separation. Okie State had wide open receivers all over the field. Better scheme, better players. Their freshman qb missed a lot of them and made some of them and they also had drops, but they were open against what has been a pretty good pass d. That started with the O Line locking our D Line and also benefited from a running attack you have to commit resources to stop. Opposing defenses have stopped our run and dared us to beat them with the pass, we did it against TCU and did it early again today.

There are numerous industrial cleaners available to use for such a purpose. Cleaning up after fire is a mess all right.

Good luck.

When those few are WR screens and the WR is standing there waiting for the ball, that doesn't leave a good impression on him. That and he floated/overthrew WR's quite a few times.

I saw quite a few of overthrown balls the last 2 games by Barnett as well as underthrown balls. WR's are not great sure, but when they are open, you need to hit them or go play juco ball. It's that simple.

When your QBs cannot throw the ball, you can call whatever play you want and it still wont work. The QBs had time today there were open recievers and yet passes were not completed.
