Fire Mess

This is what people I think aren't realizing. It is the OC/QB coaches job to develop the QBs. The QBs look no different if not worse from last year. Especially Barnett's foot work. When Eric Crouch is calling out your foot work on TV, you have a problem.

Lol, this. What was with the jump passes?

Offensive coordinators always suck when nobody can throw the ball and when someone does throw the ball our recievers drop it. See Tom Herman and whoever our last 5 offensive coordinators are. Its the talent. Not the coaching.

O RLY? How many times did we run anything deep after the first two drives? How often did we keep doing the things that were working? We didn't. As soon as somethign works, it's gone.

the playing and the play calling has been horrible, period. Face it, teams know exactly what ISU is going to run every play, no one seems to notice when they run the option instead of the zone read, there is suddenly positive yardage play. Why, because the other team is defending the zone read because the OC is to stupid to do something that work more than once or twice a game. Yes the players are not doing a good job, but teams know exactly how to stop the zone read and pressure the ISU QB, and we just keep running the same plays they are expecting. Of course it does help when the ISU QB can't hit a guy that is wide open on a trick play..........

Mess has his hands tied due to talent. Its not like he can run an offense that has a ton of talent and we can do a lot of things.

Look at my post about Tony Franklin. He is doing that with kids that according to Rivals stars and ratings, are close to what we pull in. They are hanging 50 points a game and are 2-1 against BCS schools and were only a few points shy of beating Texas A&M. They are doing that with what I would call below Iowa State talent for most positions.

It is Messingham's job to coach his QBs to play better and coordinate the offense to be successful.

Its not about stars. Its about bcs offers and we are kid kids with very little interest. Also if you qb's suck nothing works. If you have a good qb it makes up for less talent.

Sad but true, it is not working out at all... I mean we cant even get an RB to 50 yards...Terrible offense, not all players fault... See you, sorry.

Too many drops. Too many toss-up throws in the middle of the field. Too little run play calls. Penalties. Same Cyclone offense as last week.

This. Why does Mess insist on throwing the ball so much when the recvrs are average and QBs are both inconsistent?

I recognize there hasn't been much success in running the ball, but sometimes you have to keep pounding it regardless and wear down a defense. They don't do that, it's just pass-pass-pass-punt. At least if you are going to run-run-run-punt, there is less chance of turnover, and you shorten the game by two minutes. If they are going to try to play "small ball" and win close low-scoring games with defense, then for crying out loud, let's actually commit to doing it.

Yeah, ok, then how many of Franklin's guys had BCS offers? And how do you know they had little interest. BTW-Our whole fricken defense had very little interest.

I know Franklin was canned mid-way in his first season at Auburn, and did not get good reviews as a coach from former players, and if CPR wanted him, likely would have hired him when herman left.
