Fire Chizik!!!

Man there is a lot of negativity tonight... Yeah I wanted a win, but to give up all hope after one game is ****ing stupid

I don't want to hear that these arn't his recruits! There are 2 guys on our team that will be playing on Sunday next year! Does Kent State have that much better talent than we do? Maybe they do! That was pathetic!

honestyly who will be playing on sundays? yes maybe blythe he is pry a 3rd or maybe a 2nd round draft pick. And if your going to tell me that the second is Bret Myer ur nuts. serioulsy we all knew this was going to be a long season but the more we talked about it the more we forgot how bad we were last year. This goes for me to i was lookin at a 5 win season this yr and yes i think that would be a great accomplishment especially after tonight, but the it dawned on me after watching an old game on channell 22 against texas tech, you know how bad they looked? i guess all im askin is just give gene more time, afterall if we keep this complaining up we'll start to sound like squak fans after kirk's first year. in all honesty i just hope our program turns out like theres in three years like theres did.

Excuses, excuses. Thats the Iowa State way.

Its fans like you that I hate.... If you can do better get a flippin clip board and carry you sorry arse out there. This team sucked last year too... It will take a year or two. In my opinion our quarterback is the biggest problem.

So until I see you out there... Stop being a armchair coach...

Wow, some attitudes definitely need to change around here.

Lets face it, If you take the potential best team out of the MAC and place them against a mediocre Big Ten or Big 12 team, it is a recipe for disaster. Anyone who knows anything about college football knew this was going to be a tough game for us. This was many of our players first game. Not to mention, we have a new system, new coaching staff, and new game atmosphere for our team.

I really think the Hawks, gophers, hoosiers, Illini, Wildcats, Spartans, Boilermakers Jayhawks, Buffaloes, Bears, and Wildcats(KSU) would struggle to win this game. And, they don't have new coaches Kent State will be playing in a bowl game, gauranteed.

Our team can only get better. The thing that really dissapoints me is that we lost on our home field.

I give Kent State Credit. They definitely were the poised team. They made the plays and converted when they had too. They played a clean game.

I never really was on the Bret Meyer bandwagon... he's had some good games but he certainly hasn't showed it recently

I agree :skeptical:
Seriously... one game is not the end of the season or next season. STFU

Ack, bad night. But guys.... think about this. We had high expectations for Chizik, for a team that was 4-8 last year. A new system installed, These guys are still learning. I just wish JJ Bass was a freshman. The only thing that threw me tonight was. Phillip Bates on 3rd down!? the kid just turnt 18 and we are trusting him with the game on the line on 3rd down? that really got me. Anyhow, Meyer needs to play better, Our rushing game this year will be exciting, and all i have left to say is, Hold on cyclone fans.. Just hold on and see where this year takes us.

Man alive, some people here are acting like they just passed a kidney stone. Settle down. There's still 11 games left, and what was the consensus for W's? 3? 4? Our running game was there about half the time, we didn't have a great passing game, but whatever happened after we scored right away in the second half can't happen again. I'm not sure what it was, but it was like we got punched in the liver, and just took a dive.

Meyer's second INT was just terrible. Telegraphed that pass and the DB was ready for it. If Meyer plays like he did tonight, he will not be the starter for long, he looked like a freshman.

I was not pleased with the play calling except at the beginning of the third quarter. I guess the more things change, the more they stay the same.

I saw glimpses of good things tonight, I hope ISU can build on this and show a lot of improvement during the season.

Generally the team lacked enthusiasm and the fans felt it.

I can't say that I agree with you on this. With the exception of the Philip Bates 3rd down disaster, I felt that the play calling and new offense were much better. I just didn't feel that the offense in the 3rd and 4th quarter wanted to play.

I also saw some really good things, but of course there were alot of bad things. But like was said previously, no one expected this to be an overnight transformation. Give it some time. And if you are one of those 'Armchair coaches' get off it. Be a loyal fan and support the team and stop complaining about the FIRST game with a NEW coach and a NEW offensive scheme. ISU will become better than we have ever seen in the past with Chizik leading them.

I do find losing to Kent State to be unacceptable (just as I am sure Chizik does). I make no excuses here. This is Chizik's team. However, it looks like it is going to take more than one game for him to make chickensalad out of the chickenshit that McCarney left in the cupboard. No faith lost here.

...minus the 3 redzone turnovers that could have put us away even earlier in the game. Face it, we got smacked around on our home field, and Kent St didn't even play that well.

Yes Meyer was terrible, he needs to look off his primary once and a while. Everyone in the stadium could tell who the pass was going to. We all got excited when he was looking Blythe's way. If I can tell 10 rows up in the balcony, their db's can tell as well.

I was in favor of letting Mac leave and I'm excited about Chizik but I don't think it's smart to keep blaming Mac. Mac won 4 games last year with this same team.

Losing to Kent St. had more to do with stupid mistakes and less with the talent on the field.

dmclone... Answer this question... Please...

If Mac was the coach would the outcome be any different?

Except for a rushing attack this look just like the team that got their hind ends handed to them by KANSAS last year. Most of that can be contributed to Brett... Sorry he has regressed since his first two years. He can't look off recievers. He can't complete crossing paterns with guys wide open. He takes too long to make a decision.

Seriously, he is a good kid. But does everyone see the reason why Chizik mentioned early on how Austen might become the main option this year. We have one truely gift player. Blythe might play on Sundays. He still needs to learn how to block down field. If JJ could of busted one of them off we might be looking at a win.
