Fertilizing my lawn for initial spring application

Neighbor has a "pesticide free" sign in the yard, so of course it's a whole yard full of creeping charlie that keeps creeping through my fence into my grass.

Tried pulling it by hand and different weed killers specifically for it and it comes back every year like clockwork.

I put down a bunch of seed two weeks ago and I’ve been watering twice a day, but now I’m going to shift to once a day. When is the best time to water if you’re only gonna water once a day in the morning or the evening?
I prefer evening. It has a better chance of soaking in before the sun gets to it and it starts evaporating.

My neighbor is the same way... So I will purposefully make at least one pass in his lawn to create a weed barrier. Haven't heard from them, so I keep at it

"Early morning (5 to 9 a.m.) is the best time to water the lawn. A morning application allows the water to soak deeply into the soil with little water lost to evaporation. When watering is completed, the turfgrass foliage dries quickly. Watering at midday is less efficient because evaporation is rapid and strong winds may cause uneven water distribution. Strong midday winds may also carry water onto driveways, patios or streets, wasting considerable amounts of water. Watering lawns in the evening or at night may increase disease problems."

Another question, I seeded and put down straw exactly 2 weeks ago. I assume I should start to see grass growing any day right? Also how long does it take for the straw to decompose?
As cold as it’s been the last couple weeks, it might be a little more delayed than that. Overnight lows in the 40s and 50s will get that grass going.

Dang black cutworms have taken out three of my tomato plants so far. Time to get the Sevin out.

Anyone know what these disgusting mushroom looking things are in my yard? And most importantly, how do I get rid of them? they’re all really concentrated in one small area and none of the rest of my yard has them.

I think you are overthinking how much of it is some good PR for certain groups vs the EXTREME minority that actually takes part.
That's a good point. Also no mow may is a dumb *ss idea, what a mess a yard would be if you skip mowing it during one of the rainiest months of the yr.

Some of us… sigh.

Mine doesn’t seem to be taking off quite yet. Haven’t watered as much this year because we’ve had the rains, but may start letting it rip.
If you seeded mid to late April, and it hasn’t taken off yet, you probably didn’t water enough early on would be my guess.
