No kidding. It damn well better not be exposed, either. Cover every square inch of it in a 10 inch thick layer of concrete, or don't even bother building it. We have to make sure the tunnel leading from the practice facility to the stadium conveys a sense of strength and power. Otherwise, what's the point?

Still think we should have just torn down the olsen building... What are we gonna use that for now? Away lockers take up that much space?

I'm curious too about what will happen with that. The FB offices occupy the entire West side of the building now don't they?

I'm not sure but I believe it provides a way for the team to make it's way from the locker room to the field.

On top of that, I haven't heard any confirmations that the wind load calculations and bolt size analysis have been completed. After the complete failure on the new scoreboard, I hope this is considered, or Fred Hoiberg could be on the hot seat.

Just on the 1st floor. Moving football out will allow other cramped departments to stretch out a little.

I'm pretty sure I heard a couple of the volleyball players talking about their stuff being moved there permanently if football moves out. They liked having the space when they were sharing it with football last fall post-flood.

common misconception. The tunnel leading from the practice facility to the stadium is all about swagger. Granted, the other team can't see you walking through it, but it's what they don't see that provides it's power. For all the other team knows, you're doing something to really get you pumped up in that tunnel: Some real motivational type stuff. Some Ray Lewis type stuff. Some UnderArmor type stuff. The other team doesn't know. They can't see you through all that concrete. It's a big advantage.

So the real question now is, if the team enters through a tunnel from the new facility to Jack Trice does that mean they will be on the West side now or will they cross over the field to the East? Or maybe the tunnel continues under the field and they rise up out of a giant storm cellar on the East? This is all too complex. Scrap the whole thing.

I guess the entry point depends. If the tunnel connects to the Jake's basement, then they would have the same entry. If it goes right under the hillside, they will basically enter the field at the same place the opponent does. I would bet that happens more often than people think though.

The other reason why it doesn't make sense is that ISU is going to want to show this building off. Why would you possibly put it in between the IPF and that hill where no one can see it?

I agree with your pic, but I would move the building further south and hack off that little entryway to the IPF. That entry is out of place and looks tacky anyway.
