If I make anything fancier than whiskey on the rocks, I make an old fashioned. It doesn't get better than that.
I guess once in a while we'll make whiskey sours as well, they are awesome with fresh squeezed lemons and limes.

I got knocked on my ass drinking Hawaiian Punch and Everclear a couple of times.

We call this a version of riot punch.
Manhattan
2 parts whiskey (bourbon preferred)
1 part sweet vermouth
2 dashes bitters
1 maraschino cherry
Stirred, not shaken

Shaken over ice and strained.

I don't really consider it obscure, but I'm surprised at how many bartenders don't know how to make a Paloma.

I was on the fence about posting the gimlet or the paloma. Glad to see it on here.
In the summer:
-Bloodies- clear winner
-Vodka lemonade/ Arnold Palmers on the river
-Mimosas

Caiparinha
Muddle half a lime (or more) in the bottom of a tall glass
add ice cubes to the top
add a tablespoon of sugar (coarse brown, or refined, your call)
top it off with cachaca
Brazillian drink, cachaca is kind of hard to find, its distilled sugarcane but not rum
Tricky part is getting the lime and sugar ratio right, it can depend on the ripeness of the lime.
But if you get it right... wow so good, goes down like lemonade on a hot day. But you are essentially drinking straight rocket fuel, so it can knock you on your ass.

If you can ever find Ting soda, try it for grapefruit juice here. Ting is like squirt x 10.
