Favorite Sandwich Shop?

I haven't seen State Street Deli in Mason City mentioned. Pretty tasty. Starboard Market in Clear Lake is good as well.

Based on 20+ years living in the area I'm putting Charles City and Waverly in the Cedar Valley, but by nature of them spending my entire life in the NORTHEAST Iowa Conference there's a pretty strong argument to call them NE Iowa towns.
Well, Waverly is no longer in that conference, they got booted.

Weird. I was literally just thinking about the sandwiches I used to get at the M-shop back in the day and then this thread pops up.

Wife and sister in laws love Starboard Market.

If you’re in NE Iowa, you know the answer is Sub City.

This is the way.

It's been a while, but the Sub City in Waverly was the bomb.. Meat was stacked 2 inches thick and the toppings were heaped to the max. Not just an amazing sub, but insane value.

Now, best sandwich shop I've been to anywhere? That would have to be Zingerman's deli in Ann Arbor. Prices are insane (for a sandwich) but it really is amazing. Last time was probably 10 years ago and it was close to 20 bucks for a sandwich, chips, and drink. Every time it's like "this better be the best sandwich I've ever had" and it is. It's hard to be an 'institution' at those prices unless the product is that good. And it is.

Frankly, that’s the strongest argument to call CC north east vs north central

If you are ever down south (dallas, TX and savvanah, GA are the two places I've had it) Roly Poly is an amazing sandwich shop. You'll thank me later!

Steak 'n Shake! I really don't know much about their menu. When I go there, I always get the 'special', Double Cheeseburger w/ everything and Fries, for $4.00. Can't beat that with a stick! And it always tastes great.

I suppose all franchises don't have that 'special'.
Please let me know if there’s a good sandwich shop in CR/Marion.

Firehouse and Jersey Mike’s are the only ones I go to. Need something better.
I just looked it up. There was one in CR, but closed now? But if you find one somewhere, it's worth trying.

Yeah the steak and shake is closed in crapids, I think it's either a Freddy's now or a dunkin donuts and I think the actual steak and shake building got torn down.
