Schlotzky’s if you can find one. Des Moines is obviously Manhattan Deli.

Sub City definitely #1. Parkersburg used to have a sub place that was even better but has since closed down. One of the worst days of my lifeIf you’re in NE Iowa, you know the answer is Sub City.
Did you just suggest a burrito in a sandwich thread!? Wtf is happening to this world??
The answer is Downtown Deli btw, for Ames at least. West St. acceptable answer as well.
The only place to go for a philly is PepperJax. They set the bar in my mind.Curious what everyone's favorite sandwich shop is where you live? I'm in the Des Moines metro, so it's mostly franchises. My favorites around here are Wich Which, B&B Grocery (The Killer), and Jersey Mike's for a good Philly.
Sub City is awesome but barely qualifies as NE IowaIf you’re in NE Iowa, you know the answer is Sub City.
Also off topic, checking out Tucson for the first time next week and I have this place saved.Kinda OT
There's a chain around the Univ of Arizona called eegees that's awesome. Great subs but you can also get a frozen type of shlushie with it. College kids have parties with those slushies and booze. They are awesome.
Nope - I don't know of anything better around here. Maybe the Pepperjax if you want a Philly. Please let me know if there’s a good sandwich shop in CR/Marion.
Firehouse and Jersey Mike’s are the only ones I go to. Need something better.
Lol. No. Tell someone from Elkader or Decorah that Mason City and Grundy Center are in NE IA and they’ll look at you like you said you were abducted by aliens.
I still have a soft spot for Quizno's for a chain. There's still one in CR/Marion I hit once in a while when in the area.
The Publix stores here in Florida are well known for their deli sandwiches. Good but I don't put them in the excellent sandwich category, though.
Also a local Florida chain similar to a traditional NYC Jewish deli called Too-Jays.
Lastly, I can always enjoy a Panera Bread sandwich, too.
Are the shops in Cedar Falls/Waterloo 'related' to the Marshalltown shops somehow? I'm pretty sure they aren't the same owners (currently anyway).In-laws own it, great sandwich (I’m also biased lol)
I'd say 218 instead of 63 (Charles City is NE), but absolutely Cerro Gordo is not NE IowaLol. No. Tell someone from Elkader or Decorah that Mason City and Grundy Center are in NE IA and they’ll look at you like you said you were abducted by aliens.
Highway 63 and Highway 20 are the lines of demarcation. West of 63 and you might as well be in South Dakota.
I am NOT sorry for derailing this into an Iowa geography debate.
Then their wrong. Look at the damn map. This is clearly the north east section of Iowa. I understand your point but Look. At. The. Map.Lol. No. Tell someone from Elkader or Decorah that Mason City and Grundy Center are in NE IA and they’ll look at you like you said you were abducted by aliens.
