Favorite Sandwich Shop?

If you’re in NE Iowa, you know the answer is Sub City.
Sub City definitely #1. Parkersburg used to have a sub place that was even better but has since closed down. One of the worst days of my life

Kinda OT
There's a chain around the Univ of Arizona called eegees that's awesome. Great subs but you can also get a frozen type of shlushie with it. College kids have parties with those slushies and booze. They are awesome.

Curious what everyone's favorite sandwich shop is where you live? I'm in the Des Moines metro, so it's mostly franchises. My favorites around here are Wich Which, B&B Grocery (The Killer), and Jersey Mike's for a good Philly.
The only place to go for a philly is PepperJax. They set the bar in my mind.

Also off topic, checking out Tucson for the first time next week and I have this place saved.

Where I live, in New Jersey, it's Jersey Mikes. I haven't really ventured out to find a local deli.

Probably my all time favorite would be Jimmy Johns.

Please let me know if there’s a good sandwich shop in CR/Marion.

Firehouse and Jersey Mike’s are the only ones I go to. Need something better.
Nope - I don't know of anything better around here. Maybe the Pepperjax if you want a Philly.

We go to Brehemia in newbo if we want something better than Jimmy Johns, but it's not really the same thing.

Potbelly's is my favorite though

Oh wtf ever. This clearly is northeast Iowa.

Lol. No. Tell someone from Elkader or Decorah that Mason City and Grundy Center are in NE IA and they’ll look at you like you said you were abducted by aliens.

Highway 63 and Highway 20 are the lines of demarcation. West of 63 and you might as well be in South Dakota.

I am NOT sorry for derailing this into an Iowa geography debate.

The best sammitches in the universe are at my house, so I rarely go out for one, but I do like the Griddled Seasonal Veggie at The Lunchbox in Fairfield.

Griddled Seasonal Veggie Wrap
basil pesto, romaine, charred tomato, roasted cremini mushrooms, grilled asparagus, white cheddar, buttermilk dressing, griddled and served hot.

I still have a soft spot for Quizno's for a chain. There's still one in CR/Marion I hit once in a while when in the area.

The Publix stores here in Florida are well known for their deli sandwiches. Good but I don't put them in the excellent sandwich category, though.

Also a local Florida chain similar to a traditional NYC Jewish deli called Too-Jays.

Lastly, I can always enjoy a Panera Bread sandwich, too.

There is a Quizno's in Dyersville right across the street from the football/ track complex. I imagine it has been 10 years now- I had an athlete on the track team whom I was concerned about never getting enough food at home. I secretly and quietly offered to buy him a sandwich if he ran over when he was done running and grab me one. He was pretty quick to pounce on the opportunity. I honestly was doing it for him- but dang it was a fantastic sandwich and it has become an annual tradition when we run in Dyersville each year. That athlete has obviously graduated but unfortunately there always seems to be other kids on the team who need supper bought for them. The tradition has spread to all (3) of us coaches and has trickled over to other teams. We all buy a sandwich for a kid who needs it most. No drama, no spectacles, no notice- just about 6 coaches who through out the night just find a way to have a Quizno's sandwich delivered to them.

I'd say 218 instead of 63 (Charles City is NE), but absolutely Cerro Gordo is not NE Iowa
