Favorite Guitar Solo's

Mike McCready (Pearl Jam) has many great solos. Alive was the first I remember, but he has so many others that are phenomenal. He did a great cover of Van Halens Eruption in Lincoln last year too. The guy knows his stuff

Matt Bellamy of Muse is possibly the greatest guitarist currently making music. Some examples are Invincible, Plug in Baby, Reapers, Hysteria and Citizen Erased.

Jack white (take your pick) the smashing pumpkins, soma, and pearl jam (again take your pick.)

This was going to be mine, but GTO beat me to the punch again!

Check out guitar george, he knows-all the chords
Mind he's strictly rhythm he doesn't want to make them cry or sing
They said an old guitar is all, he can afford
When he gets up under the lights to play his thing

Maybe not my favorite, but I'll bring him up because I think he's an underrated modern guitarist, I'll throw in Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys in Little Black Submarine. I always rock out to that part when listening to it.

The late Terry Kath, from the band Chicago. Jimmy Hendrix said Kath was better than him.

Love his solo in 25or6to4.

Any other week this probably wouldn't hit the radar, but since Lonnie Mack picked a bad day to pass, he still deserves his due. And yes, solo usually means one, but on this occasion we need to break the rules.

Ant other week I might lean toward this one:
