Fant is going pro

I didn't edit anything. Ferentz literally said he was disappointed he wasn't finishing the season with his teammates. That's a bad thing to put in a release as a HC
....and you left out his second sentence. You do you though

Ferentz on Fant decision: “We are disappointed Noah will not be finishing the season with his teammates,” said Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz. “He is a tremendous athlete and we wish him the best as he pursues his goal of playing in the NFL.”

Yes. These guys don't owe me (or any of us) a damn thing. They need to do whats right for them and their families. If they feel not subjecting their bodies to the rigors of a 13th game is the right thing then that's fine by me.

I don't believe any part of that statement for one second.

Maybe, but I doubt it. It all comes down to the combine mostly. NFL isn't worried about stats for the most part. Right or wrong, just the way they do business.

Agreed... but there are a lot of people that have made a ton of money on just a good bowl game. The NCAA tournament as well. Much more viewers and a big stage.

Why would the top 1st rounders on Alabama want to risk injury for college playoff games? Are they getting paid in these playoff games? What if they get hurt and they don't get drafted? They should think of themselves. They don't owe their teammates anything. I think most of the Alabama 1st/2nd rounders should just sit out. Heck, sit out the Georgia game. If their goal is to make millions in the NFL, who gives a **** about an SEC title? Same with Georgia, Clemson and Notre Dame. Why are their studs risking their careers for stupid college games?

you know, I think any player interested in getting drafted this year should just sit out bowl season.

I can't believe those guys who play in the All Star games. What are they thinking? They could get hurt.

crazy world. crazy world.

Everyone has a different reason for playing or not playing. If the entire first round of the draft sat out for the bowl games, you wouldnt notice. If the entire 2nd round sat out too, you probably still wouldn’t notice.

Alabama guys are probably getting paid anyway, so it’s no problem for them.

Wow, Iowa and ISU fans arguing with a kState fan. I guess some things can bring hawk and clone fans together.

Lol, you know guys love me. This board would be extremely boring if everyone had the same opinion.

Besides, I only post during basketball season so you only have 3 more months of me. I'll probably be in a pretty good mood also because finally after 3 1/2 years Im finally confident Prohm has what it takes to continue the Hoiberg tradition.

Only if they play. Fant's only memorable play was not knowing the play called which led to a game clinching interception.

Ferentz is a moron for sure but I totally agree with him on this front. I agree with how they handled the Dolphin situation also.

Make scholarships a 5 year commitment from the schools then.

Coaches routinely don't "fulfill their commitment" (we currently have one) players shouldn't be required to either.

Yep, how many coaches quit on their teams before the bowl game to accept another job elsewhere.

Hell Matt Campbell "Quit" on Toledo his final year if that is the case.

I don't know how you can blame Fant in this situation. He wasn't happy in his situation and was being misused by his coach. Anyone in his shoes would do the same thing

It’s like giving your 2 or 4 week notice. How many people don’t give 100% then. Last job I donated about 2 weeks of my time to get the new guy up and going or just plain doing his job.
