Fallon Ellis, Class of 2011

Confirmation of her verbal:

Houston Heat Girls Basketball

Congratulations to Fallon Ellis and the entire Ellis family! Today, Fallon (5-11, F/G , 2011) verbally committed to play her college basketball at Iowa State University. Houston Heat Girls Basketball is very proud of Fallon, and Iowa State is getting a wonderful young lady, with a blue collar mentality and great versatility.

hard to find much info on her, which I am guessing MRed looked pretty hard for too and is better at it than me.

On this site she is ranked 6th best player out of Houston. Considering the girls talent that comes out of Houston, that is pretty cool. Saw that she was invited to the regional nike skills camp, and got a mention of "versatile."

Welcome to the ISU family Miss Ellis!
I think this is a great pick-up, even without finding a lot of articles on her. As mentioned the level of play is great in the Houston area, and she had an offer before her Jr year. Bill must have been impressed. It would be nice to keep on expanding our recruiting in Texas. We have done well in the Midwest, but with the Big 12 connection we should be able to recruit the fertile ground that is Texas.

Ames Trib article: Go Cyclones - Women̢۪s basketball gets 2011 commit

Ellis, a 2011 recruit, is an ISU legacy. Her grandfather, Tommy Watkins, played on the “Dirty Thirty” ISU football team. Her uncle, Mark Watkins, also played football at ISU.
The article references "Webster Christian", but everything I've read says she goes to Willowridge. Not sure if that's a typo in the article or she switched schools.

Edit: I think I have this figured out. Her AAU coach is George Washington (the guy in the photo I posted above). Before founding the AAU program, he coached at WESTBURY Christian. Somehow, that got mixed up in the article.

Before founding the AAU program, he coached at WESTBURY Christian, LED THE TROOPS AT VALLEY FORGE, AND THEN BECAME THE 1st PRESIDENT OF THE U.S:smile:. Somehow, that got mixed up in the article.

Sorry, I couldn't resist! Anyway - thanks for the info MRED!!

Bobby La Gesse was more specific in today's article:

Go Cyclones - Ellis to commits to Cyclones

She is a two-time all-district player at Willowridge High School and is transferring to Westbury Christian High School this year. She averaged 14.9 points, 6.8 rebounds, 3.1 steals and shot 52.5 percent in the 2008-09 season.
And here is some more detail:

Fallon Ellis - College Basketball Recruiting 2011 - ESPN
Fallon Ellis, a 5-foot-11 wing out of the Houston area, has committed to Iowa State, according to her club coach, George Washington of the Houston Heat.

A 2011 prospect, Ellis averaged 14.9 points, 6.8 rebounds, 3.1 steals and shot 52.5 percent and made the all-district team for Willowridge High School last season. She is transferring to Westbury Christian, where Washington also coaches.

Other than the typo with "Webster" instead of "Westbury", the original article was correct.
