F1 2022 Discussion

It's going to be some boring politics/lawyering because Red Bull says they weren't above the cap and the FIA disagrees, ultimately it'll just be a fine I imagine, maybe cap reduction in the future.

The weird part about the report that it’s employee benefits is that things like maternity leave and such aren’t supposed to be included in the cost cap. They didn’t want teams cutting employee benefits to keep themselves under the cap.

It really wouldn’t surprise me either if the FIA ****** up their calcs and RB is right.

It seems like the difference is how things are categorized or whatever, or how the regs are interpreted, maybe RB think they found a loophole.

an advantage in 21 also leads to a developmental advantage this year, no?
Maybe, this was kind of a one off year, because of the rules change to the cars. All I'm saying is that everything I've heard of the investigation is about the 2021 season and has nothing to do with 2022.

I'm also beginning to think, with the Championship wrapped up so early, that the FIA is probably doing whatever they can to stir up a little controversy. I think they miss the fighting and battling to the end that happened last year. Especially with their second race in the US still to come.

F1 thrives off the soap opera and need some controversy otherwise why watch the last few races.

That's especially true with how the drivers market is shaking out. Basically we're waiting to see who is going to be at Williams with Albon right? I think everything else is sorted out.

Daniel Ricciardo and Mick should go to Indy. They could make a lot of money. Daniel could win and Max can bring name recognition from Europe and F1 fans. Then possibly switch back over in a few years when he gets more experience

Max as in Max Verstappen? He signed like a $385 million contract with Red Bull F1 (don't think that's even counting his off-track sponsorships). Indy guys don't come close to that.

I’m just waiting to see how ESPN will **** this up. You know there will be ads and **** now. Qualis and practices probably on ESPN+. I just hope they keep the sky sports stream.

Max to Indy? There is absolutely zero chance of that happening. None of these guys would ever jump to Indy permanently unless they lost their seats in F1.

Danny Ric, maybe. He’s taking a year off but I still think he may find a seat in F1 as a backup driver at minimum.

Watch them try to do their own coverage with Danica Patrick or some **** instead of using Sky Sports, and then throw ads into it.

I would rather watch a bootleg version filmed on an iPhone 2 in 480p than watch someone like Danica fumble her way through a broadcast.
