F*CK IOWA

It was. Looking back at that game, what 20+years ago, and to the crotchety old man my Dad has become, I am surprised he ever took me.

That UCONN team was crap. Although they did have a future NFL QB at the time.

And yes, I was at the game. My first ever at JTS in fact...sad day.

They were crap but I remember they were playing some better ball in the weeks prior to playing ISU, while ISU was limping to the end of their season. It was a prime situation for a ISUism.

Indeed it was one of my first tastes of what being an ISU fan all entails. The very first one was a little earlier than that in the Elite 8 with the Fizer/Tinsley team.

I don't really want to play JMU in a bowl if I'm being totally honest with myself. Although for their sake I hope they get into one.

Who wants to tell him to that there was a Big 10 team who was championship game contender until this Saturday who you won’t see in bowl projections…because they might not make a bowl game.

If Iowa, Wisconsin and Northwestern all win this weekend, three B10 West teams will be Bowl eligible, which has to be an all-time low for a P5 division.

If the chips fall just right, Iowa could wind up having played nine bowl-eligible teams this year. Five are already bowl-eligible. Nebraska, Minnesota, Illinois and Utah St can get there with wins this weekend.

If those four manage to win, I'm sure the Iowa fanbase will try to portray their schedule as being sneaky tough, as well as Iowa's impressive 6-3 record in those games. And honestly, that does sound like a tough schedule. It's just that 7 of those teams will finish with a 6-6 record. Eight if ISU loses to K-State.

Yeah, if Illinois beats NW, Minny beats Wiscy and kNU beats Squawks, Iowa will be only team in B1GW that has a winning record.

And I could easily see all of those games fall that way.

The Iowa/Nebraska game is the only one I feel confident about. The only real question is if Nebraska will inexplicably shoot themselves in the foot at a critical moment or if Iowa will inexplicably get a lucky break in a critical moment.

The rest all are 6-5 vs 5-6 crap shoots.

This would be a very tough argument to make. Even for the biggest homer fans.

Is there any other kind of Hawkeye fan?

I didn't say it was good argument, just that it's not going to be surprising to hear it.

I would say ISU, Wisconsin, Rutgers, Illinois, and Northwestern are all pretty close in terms of best win this year.
Murderers row right there. This is pretty much the last half of KF’s tenure. In 2015 Iowa’s 2nd toughest game was against an ISU team that finished 2-10. Tie game with 4 minutes left, first and 10 ISU with the ball at the 35. Granted Kirk has a propensity to win those games but Hawkeye football has been like taking your cousin to prom the last dozen years. You get to dress up and take the pictures but everyone knows it’s fake. Cowherd nailed it.

A three game lead in record means absolutely nothing when your wins are over teams ranked #101, #26 (you're welcome), #114, #73, #69, #40, #60, #51, #56 with a loss vs #61. And that loss vs #61 happened to be on your homefield. So if you think winning on the road is significant, I guess Minnesota should be considered to be just as good or better than Iowa. After all, MN did beat Iowa in Kinnick
So ISU is helping their SOS and Iowa is hurting ours it appears.
