F*CK IOWA

I'm not saying there won't be a bunch of Panther ones. But there will be a ton of Iowa ones (and flags too). I've literally driven right down Hudson Rd multiple times on gamedays in Cedar Falls and seen this. You don't have to like it but it is what it is. I get there are Cyclone fans in there (and growing) but there's no denying the major Hawk contingent among "Panther" fans.
I think in the past you're right. When UNI was humming as a department and Iowa was down, think late 00s, that was more the case. UNI has done such a poor job of marketing and has gone from being an elite FCS/Mid to merely good thanks to a shrinking budget that we don't have casuals anymore. We're down to the 8000 UNI football fans and 3500 UNI basketball fans. That's it.

Plus there's that contingent (majority?) of the Iowa base that just feels the need to cheer against Iowa State no matter what and they like to go the fake UNI fan route to do it. Believe me, we hate it too.

After one of our too-close-for-comfort wins against UNI there was a fan in UNI gear on the concourse going “Can’t wait for next week!” Being a nozzle

I think that was 2011 (I was in college) which was the 3OT ISU win at JTS, so hopefully that guy did have fun :D

I went to two UNI games last year. I wore my ISU hat (I don't own any UNI gear) and saw one other dude wearing Cyclone stuff both times combined. I saw well over a dozen (I stopped counting, a dozen is very conservative) Hawk-wearing people in the dome. Two of those doosh bags said something to me. I know several actual legit UNI fans who absolutely hate Iowa but there is such a large, large chunk of the UNI fanbase that is just poorly disguised hawk fans.

I know a fair amount of UNI athletes who absolutely hate Iowa. They say it's abysmal on campus where you see Iowa gear everywhere.

UNI has a lot of fans that are primarily EIU fans and then support UNI as their second team. Those fans do not see UNI has any sort of threat to EIU, and like the thought that UNI can maybe beat the team that they hate and are threaten by ISU.

That is not a rip on UNI, they are what they are, #3 school in the pecking order, with a small but loyal fanbase. But to dismiss the amount of EIU fans that are rooting for them most weeks is denying the truth.

I have at least 6 friends who all graduated from UNI but wear Black and Gold... hey literally cheer against UNI when they play Iowa.

I have one UNI shirt...a Katelin Oney YEAH PURP shirt. She played for them back in the day and is an assistant there now.

I have Fuc*eye toilet paper. Not much more satisfying after the duty than wiping ones sh*t off with it.

UNI is truly the “little brother”. I’ve seen that same greasy Hok behavior when UNI plays Drake every year at the Knapp Center. Lots of local tavern hoks wearing parakeet shirts.

One point short of their 25 ppg goal against Utah St. Doubt they score more than 24 against ISU defense. Prolly not the start Brain needed
