Expectations for next year

I think that if Royce comes back we could pretty easily be a favorite to win the conference and make a lot of noise in the tournament. As long as everybody comes back and no one gets in trouble we will have a deep and talented roster. We potentially will be able to go big against some teams and still be able to handle the ball. Many of the upper tier teams benefit because they are so big - look at Baylor. They dominated in non conference because being big and athletic doesn't have off nights.

I think we will still be a great shooting team with McGee, Babb (I think he returns to form shooting next year), Booker, Clyburn, and Dorsey-Walker all being good 3 point shooters. Plus I expect Ejim to shoot better next year and Lucious will be a decent shooter after a year to work on it.

Lucious is huge for next years team - he is impossible to keep out of the lane and is pass first so hopefully he will make the guys around him better. If we do go big Gibson, Booker, and Niang will all be the beneficiaries of his passing and can play a bigger role.

If Royce does not come back I think we go up tempo and play 10 guys nightly. I think we have to be predicted in the top half of the conference, but not the favorite by any means. To succeed we will need the recruits to really help with the scoring - otherwise the team really could struggle to score at times.

Austin McBeth will have a breakout season averaging 23.4 ppg 5.1 asst 8.9 reb and carry us to the national championship. you heard it here first!!!

After watching him score 1 on 1 on NBA players the last few days, I'm going to assume that Royce is gone. He's irreplaceable, but to take a page from Moneyball, we just need to replace his production, and I think we can do that with scoring from Gibson, Clyburn and McGee, playmaking from Lucious and the freshman guards, and more aggressive defense from our post players. We won't have our biggest guy and best shot-blocker out there worried about getting into foul trouble, and that is going to be a big plus when it comes to interior defense.

I think we'll miss his rebounding, but Clyburn can really clear the defensive boards as well, and Gibson should improve his defense and rebounding with a year in the program.

It's hard to say with so many newcomers I haven't seen play much, but I would expect us to be a NCAA tournament next year.
