Expectations for next year

Okay, for some reason I thought Bubu was a junior. Nevermind!

He was a year ahead of Barnes and Doug Mc, he just redshirted his first year at ISU. Back on topic, with Royce, ISU is a top 10 team from the get go and should compete for a 1-4 seed. Without Royce I think we still have a tourney quality team. The big 12 will only get better next year, Texas, Okie St, OU, and Kstate bring a lot back, and WV will be competitive. ISU, KU and Baylor could get hit hard by graduation/early NBA defections, but all 3 should have enough back to still be solid.

He didn't have allot of errors...:twitcy:

I expect a similar year to this year...we have to change our system up as we have a more traditional lineup..going to take awhile for people to get used to their new roles.I think we'll lose a couple we shouldn't like the Drake game from this year.

I think round of 32 is where we will get...

I think this year will prove to be a bit of an anomaly when we look back at the Hoiberg era, as far as the style we play. I think in the future, starting next year, we'll have at least one true PG that likes to push it. Think last year with DG, when we ran after turnovers, rebounds, and even made shots. We didn't run much this year, we didn't consistently get easy looks out of transition. I think starting next year, with or without Royce, we will get easier looks for our shooters out of transition. The offense will be there. I think the young guys on the team learned something about the intensity they have to bring, and will bring it to every game, our defense will only get better.
Without knowing who's coming back, or how good the additions are, or even what the Non-con schedule looks like, it's all just pure conjecture. But I expect a tourney bid, and with Royce, the sweet sixteen.

I'd expect top 4 in conference finish. Untill I see the non conference schedule I don't want to guess at a seed/tourney run
With Royce back

Anyone else think if Royce came back that it could lead to some marquee non conference games for us? It seems like super stars get matched up in some of the big non conference games/tourney's, especially when the matchups are manufactured by ESPN.

I think, if Royce back we can make a legitimate run at the conference.

Take away our 2-2 record against Mizzou and TAM, and replace with 3-1 against WV and TCU, don't miss any games against middle of the pack teams, and split with Baylor and KU and could possibly wind up with it.

Don't forget Melvin. Sure, he had some issues handling some of Royce's passes and finishing at times, but I thought he really improved over the season. If he gets stronger and improves his 3 ball over the summer look out.

I don't see why I can't drink the Kool-Aid. :spinny: I expect a national championship! 36-0 or whatever it needs to be and we don't win by less than 5 ever!

Realistically? If Royce stays we'll contend for Big XII title and a 1-2 seed and then it goes from there. If he doesn't stay it will be like this year but maybe we'll get a higher seed than 8.

Will someone describe Korie's game? What's he do best, where can he improve?

And, has anyone watched practices with Korie and Royce on the floor at the same time? Do they mesh as well as we hope they do? . . .

Yes. I wouldn't mind a United Center rematch with Duke. That's an embarrassment I'd like to correct.

In a dream, just so we can all drool about it, a nice matchup with Michigan State here at Hilton would be nice. That one won't ever happen, but it sounds good.

From what I've seen he is great at moving the ball around/running up tempo. I think he has an alright jump shot.....but I feel like that's what he needs to improve on.

This is pretty close, at Mich St he dished the ball out well but also was turnover prone and his shooting was inconsistent but he definitely has a scorers mentality . If he can clean up the turnovers, I'm okay with the streaky shooting.

korie is not much of a scorer at all but more of a PG and defender than scotty. even so i find it hard to call him an upgrade over scotty b/c of his weak offensive game especially if we lose royce as well

Really fast. Fantastic ball handler and penetrator. Mediocre jumper. Overall more of a distributor as opposed to a scorer.
