Everything Jakolby Long thread

Hard to say. I think his physique is bigger than Stinson. Stylistically it's too early to tell without more footage. I think Long can play "bigger" and I don't remember if Stinson had that.

Stinson could post up and abuse about any guard out there and outlift most of the football team. He was one of our first matchup nightmares.

Love his demeanor on the court, also I hope we get Kentucky in the SEC challenge next year so we get to play Monk (and a lot of other great recruits)

Because you want to see all the great players for Kentucky? I'd rather not...not next year's team. Ouch.

Haha for some reason I've erased those memories sans Rashon Clark. I would then agree they are similar at least in terms of build and possibly skillset.

I agree with this. ISU finally getting that matchup in the challenge when the team is rebuilding would be just the opportunity the naysayers among the media have been looking for to say that ISU's success was a fluke and just dismiss the program as a whole.

Watching UK lose at UCLA tonight I wish we had a crack at them this year. Also, the fact we do the SEC challenge later in the year makes a win against them even tougher...they are undeniably talented, but their freshmen look like freshmen this early.

I like how everyione assumes we will be bad next year. Obviously prob not going to be top 5-10 in the country but I dont think we will be Mc Doormat years bad - Give Prohm a little respect here he will hacve that team filled up and bring in the players needed to compete.

I expect there to be a slight drop off but I'd still expect us to be a 5/6 seed and worst case scenario a 7-10 seed.

Kentucky has a history of dismantling teams like this even if by simply out talenting them. There is very little doubt that a team that loses four starters - and likely all five - will more times than not take a step back. Many of us have clamored for a shot at UK in the Challenge. To finally get it when ISU's chances are reduced would be par for the course.

Not a lack of respect for Prohm at all, more of GREAT respect for the abundance of skill/experience/leadership/etc. that we have now in Niang, Long, Monte, McKay, and Nader. Thats a lot for any program to lose at once.

Our team next year will get pole-axed by Kentucky. We will have a bubble team at best. This was the year to get Kentucky although A&M will be a great test.

The drop off next year is inevitable and is Fred's fault, not Prohm's. If we make the NCAAs that will be a nice accomplishment and will be quite impressive.

Agree, that would be quite impressive. Those assuming just a 'slight' drop off might want to re-evaluate. Again, nothing to do with lack of faith in Prohm. Replacing front court of Niang/Mckay/Nader with Carter/Ernst/Young/Malou has me ...well, soaking up every exciting moment of watching this year's team.

Agree that drop off next year will be more on Fred than on Prohm...but idiots will inevitably say otherwise next year. I also think it's unfair to set this year's team as the bar because as it's been 15 years since we've been this good. This is arguably our best team ever and the field looks wide open this year. We need a few more years of sustained success before we come to expect top 5/10 teams with realistic chance to win the conference and more.

If we land an immediately eligible bigman transfer next year and Monte stays (both big "ifs" obviously), I think we'll be okay with Thomas or Cook, Burton, Malou as other starters. Probably still a top 25 team. If Monte leaves and a we cant find a center we're back to bottom half of Big 12 and bubble team at best.

Jakolby was very impressive. He was more polished offensively than I thought. He looks like he is physically ready to play DI. I know Monk is a stud, but Jakolby looked equally impressive to me. Jakolby seemed to play within the offense. Monk was his team's offense.

This is rubbish. It's Fred's fault? Look, every team, including Kentucky has rebuilding years. Fred set this team up to be his best yet and left it into Prohm's hands. We will obviously take a step back after losing McKay, Nader, Niang, Long, and possibly Monte. But to think a team with Jackson, Cooke, Thomas, Babb, Malou, Burton among others and players yet to be named is not going to make the tourney is pessimistic IMO.

Let Prohm fill out the class before we just dismiss next years team as a bottom half big 12 team as one poster suggested.

Oh, and how bout this Long kid?

+1 to this, also Monk is probably a 1 and done guy and Jacoby is going to be a guy like Naz and Niang who you can build your program around. Don't get me wrong, I would've loved to get Monk, but solid 4 year guys are just as good as 1 and done guys when its all said and done. The future looks bright for ISU MBB. I wish there was more video (especially recent video) out there of young, malou, & jackson. Always love seeing how the future cyclones are developing.
