Everybody relax

Need better unis.....white helmets for future UNI games....

I appreciate you writing this. I think sometimes we get caught up int he "oohs/ahs" of it all (wanting SEZ so bad, uniform threads, etc).

And I agree with the OP....we have to remember these are student athletes and last night hurt them WAY more than any of us. They were the ones at 6AM in January getting their behinds handed to them by Yancy.

But Farley demands more from his players day in and day out - you can tell. In the weight room, on the practice field, in games. I'd bet he's been a terror, coming off that losing season. And yes, they were also the better team two years ago.
No

Agreed. Should always win that game. But perspective is needed.

Unfortunately if you are looking for reasonable perspective the night and day after a humiliating loss is not the time to look for it. It's not even half as bad as I thought it would be in lieu of the record ticket sales and program hype. Pretty good distribution of total Pollyanna Kool-Aid folks and the total end of the world folks.

On the bright side, at least you aren't Drake and lost to NAIA Grand View. I think there is enough talent on the Cyclones roster that CPR will throw in some kids with a real nose for the ball in the defensive front 7 and the offense will click better after a little more time together. That schedule looks brutal though. The Iowa game could be interesting

If we get out of non-con 2-1 I guess I don't care who the "1" is. That said, I'm not expecting to get out of non-con 2-1.

Yup. And I hope they beat NDSU. Sorry, lakebison.

I love when it comes time to dish out hundreds or thousands of dollars to watch this game, we are asked to be fanatical and give "110%"! When our coach gets paid millions of dollars, that's the price for winning football! When we show up to the game, make sure you get there early and scream your lungs out! However, if we suffer one of the worse losses in school history, be calm and keep it in perspective. It's not that important!

There is a massive disconnect there.

Amen. I will add that if we shouldn't get worked up, why build a $20 Million football only facility? Why fight like hell to keep the big XII together and stay in the big boy club? Shoot, relax and go the Mountain West or someplace else. It will be OK. Sarcasm aside, I think people bought into "all in" because they thought we had progressed beyond our old ways. We have a great AD who navigated thru troubled waters of realignment masterfully. Our coach engineered some great victories and proved we could play with anybody. I can't speak for everybody, but what sucks so bad about last night is it feels like we slid right back to 2003 or 2006, and I don't think any of us wanted to ever go back there again. I doubt if the AD does either. Too much on the line to just shrug shoulders and say wait until next year. If I know this coach and AD, accountability will be enforced. As others have said, this is a big business. They can't afford to be complacent. That's the old ISU athletic dept.

Post of the day in my opinion.
