Every Day Carry Knives

I have the Victorinox rescue tool in my car, as well as a Bubba filet knife, if those count. Dog also at the point where his claws are lethal weapons.

I also like my Kershaw knives. Currently carry the Chive, it's a little shorter than the leek someone else mentioned.

I'm surprised how people function without one. And I'm just a suburban dad who works in a cube!

Around 10 years ago I went to an auction that had TSA confiscations, and brought home a bag full of knives and multitools. Some were no name brands but functional, many were junk, but it did included 4 Gerber multi tools, 3 large Gerber knives and at least 5 Victorinox knives. Cost me $35.

I lost a Leatherman once at TSA. Totally forgot I had thrown it in my backpack for a previous road trip.

I don't mean this as a judgment, but I cannot think of a single time in my life I've required the unplanned, immediate use of a knife.
Several years ago, we were camping with friends and their dog ended up with a treble hook in it's mouth while trying to eat catfish bait. They were freaking out, going to rush the dog to the vet. I set my drink down, whipped out my pocket knife and cut the hook out. The dog didn't even whimper and I sat down by the fire and resumed enjoying my drink. They were shocked at my surgical skills. lol Be prepared!

The knife is the greatest simple tool ever invented.

Just lost a griptylian that I had for a few years that fell out of my pocket somewhere in the last month replaced it with a bugout. Got the stainless steel 20cv blade with some cool limited edition scales. So far I love the size and weight. Considering upgrading the scales to titanium at some point as the only complaint I have with the current scales is the VERY slight flex. Overall I'm in love with it.

What are some knives everyone else really likes for everyday carry, work, survival, etc? I'm a knife nerd and love to talk about blacksmithing as well.
I have a full size grip (154cm), and north fork (s30v), and a mini-crooked river (s30v). My edc for the last 9 months has been the north fork. They all went to the spa for resharpening then. I'll probably carry by mini crooked next. The Grip is orange so i like using that on the farm incase I drop it.

I also have a microtech sigil but that one was discontinued and is increasing in value so it stays in my safe.

I haven't had to buy a new knife since before covid, if you take care of them, along with a spa treatment for the lazersharp warranty, benchmades last a very long time.

My three favorite to carry right now are the Benchmade NorthFork, Civivi Baby Banter and the CRKT CEO. Civivi Elementum might be my favorite budget knife, though.
I like the north fork too but the down side is the top 2/3 of the blade gets dull but the 1/3 closest to the handle never gets used due to t he curve in the blade. I know, its a hunting series one that and would be more beneficial if I was using it to clean game.

This little guy will never let you down.

It'll take any utility blade you prefer, and is strong, lightweight and compact. Also, the price on Amazon is a steal for this quality.

I use it for work and everyday stuff. With work I'm cutting through drywall, cutting coax (quad shield) to trim out, etc. It's a rugged little knife.

Just ordered one of those last night from Amazon. Cost was $13.48, cheap.

If you haven't tried these blades already, I highly recommend them. A great combo with this knife:

LENOX Utility Knife Blades, Titanium Edge, 5-Pack (20350GOLD5C) https://a.co/d/8IrCZcQ
I'll add those on to my next order. After reading your post (thanks!), I checked out the knife and really liked it so I tacked the knife on to another item that I'd ordered earlier in the day. Got free shipping for both items that way, but that deal only lasts for 24 hours.

Speaking of Lancelot, I recall an incident involving Lancelot the swan and a lawnmower on campus back in the day. After that, they decided the new Lancelot would be female.
Never thought of that angle. I assumed his name was from Lancelot Hall and he was the dork we used to "penny" in his room.

I tend to have a knife obsession and rarely touch a knife that I do not like. I have carried a knife in my pocket since I was a little kid. I started out with knives that supported my hunting (various buck knives for gutting deer), trapping (Kabar Trapper folding knife), and fishing (case folding knife for fileting) interests. From there, I realized that knives are versatile tools that are easy to carry and come in handy when you need them. Also, many knife models fill specialist roles. I have many of the major knife brands such as Buck, Kabar, Spyderco, Benchmade, Kershaw, Case, Victorinox, Emerson, Gerber, CRKT, ESEE, Ontario, etc.), I recently purchased knife storage cases to hold over 50 pocket carry knives that I acquired over time. I like Case knives as the best of the manual folding knives. Kershaw represents the best value of the assisted folding knives. The quality and features of the premium brands can be very good, but Kershaw checks most of the boxes (reliability, functionality, good steel, etc). I favor smaller knives that are lightweight since I carry other stuff in my pocket. I am currently carrying a medium size Case Stockman manual folding knife.
