ESPN quote from Royce White

It wasn't any "violation", ISU was trying to get the year he has to sit out because he transferred waived since he never played a game at Minnesota

True, but I don't think there has been a case where the NCAA let a player play right away after transferring...even if he never played at prior school.

I wanted him to play but I also knew we had nothing to warrant the NCAA waiving the transfer rule. I'm still curious what we put in the appeal letter.

I agree. We didn't really have a case, but I was hoping we'd somehow win.

At least Fred showed Royce that he was going to do everything he could, and Royce's reaction does sound very mature.

Basically, I guess this non-surprise means that we still have the best scout team in America.

Ohhhh, open the gullet and drink it up. We are on the verge of hammering people.

I loved the quote because it seems like this young man really gets it, and you can already start to see the respect that Coach Hoiberg commands.

Our scout team is doing a fantastic job getting our starters ready, and it will be amazing to see them all hit the court next year.

Exactly! The change has done him good. He has people around him to help keep his head on straight.I'm not worried one bit about him leaving.
And the more I see and hear from him interact within the program....the less I'm concerned with his character issues. He has a solid head.He will be fine now.
I look forward to 2 or 3 great seasons out of him.

I sat by this guy at last weekends gave vs. Creighton. He was very supportive of his teammates and seemed like a hell of a nice, friendly guy. Hope the best for this talented player!

To bad this rule cant be implimented on coaches..... would only seem fair.... leaves before his contract is up.... has to sit out the next year, an interm coach would have to coach for that year

Met Royce at Jordan Creek mall during the summer. Very friendly and nice guy. He was there with the rest of the incoming transfers and DG. Those guys are just monsters when you stand up next to them.

I've had so many hawk fans (and unfortunately some Cyclone fans too) tell me that Royce White will never play a game for ISU, and bring up his past transgressions as evidence that Fred is doing a bad job. I hope Royce hears it too, because nothing would make me happier than to see him in Cardinal & Gold next year with a chip on his shoulder.
