I would expect nothing else from ESPN. It's trash media.

5th shows the respect nationally that ISU has earned dude to recent history.

I don't get too upset about ESPN writting about KU's pending NCAA troubles nationally it is what will get the clicks plus it must be fustrating for KU fans to see how good their team is but will always be *tainted no matter the result.

One other thought popped for me, every expert is noting how important getting Doke at center for them it what putts them at #2 and I don't disagree with his impact...
But when has he been able play. He hasn't yet made it through a season and everyone is penciling him in for 35 starts? seems optimistic..

To be clear I am not rooting for an injury and would like to see what he can do for a full year but I just haven't seen that as a possible weakness for Self's squad. We saw what happened last year when he was lost for the season.

Tweaked an ankle. From what I've seen it's not believed to be serious.

Moss also dealing with a hamstring issue.

@MedcalfByESPN Kansas guard Devon Dotson just walked into Big 12 media day in Kansas City with a boot on his right foot.

Though a boot could be on for a minor foot issue to speed recovery. Foot injuries can escalate quickly, so something to monitor.

I like this year. Expectations are low and the guys have something to prove. Felt like last year with our talent we should be winning every game so when something went wrong I was extremely frustrated.

hah I actually think expectations are way too high. other than the b12 coaches, all the polls on various sites have us in the tourney. I'm worried we're overstating the talent on our team. Need several guys to step up and elevate their games quickly, especially with a really tough schedule!

TCU is most frequently picked to finish last, which I agree with, but I'm not sure they will be a "bad" team this year unless something happens to Desmond Bane.

KenPom has them projected at 46th while Battorvik has them 95th and Norlander has them at 101st.

Last time the Big 12 earned less than 6 bids was 2013. The last time the Big 12 earned less than 5 bids was 2007. If you're 6th or higher in the Big 12 you're probably getting in unless it's truly a down year for the conference.

I think what this shows is the respect Steve Prohm and this basketball program has gotten from the national media. Having an NBA caliber guard in Tyrese Halliburton helps with that too.

I don't think having ISU in the NCAA tournament field is a high expectation by any means, especially since we've made 7 out of the last 8 NCAA tournaments.

Read he twisted his ankle in practice. Day to Day but they are holding him out of their first exhibition tonight.

95-100 seems about right to me.

Seems pretty fair. 4th-6th is pretty much a norm for the last few years other than one outlier year.

We've lost over 80% of our scoring in a tough conference. Most teams wouldn't be ranked in the top half of their conference if that happened to them. I'll take 5th in the Big XII. Still respectful and makes us an underdog in most conference games.
