ESPN Baseball Announcers

Thats a total hawkeye crap argument and you should be ashamed of yourself for even stooping so low.

The crappy announcer debate concerning ESPN and FOX has been going on for years. It has nothing to do with 1 game. Its a legit point that is talked about by lots of fans of many teams.

Somebody's in a grumpy mood. Oh ye of 46 posts, you don't know jack about me, who I support, or what my alliances are. Especially regarding the hawkeye's. Figure out what and who you're talking about before you spew your junk. I was having fun.

I don't mind Miller...he is a little over the top at times but I kinda like that (a la Gus Johnson calling NCAA basketball). But the 2 suckboxes around him made the game horrible to listen to.

Where was Ron this weekend? I caught a little radio and noticed he wasn't calling the games.

Ron has been sick(and off-air) for a few weeks now.
The Diabetes is starting to catch upwith him,I'm afraid.
I pray he comes back soon.

Morgan lost any tiny bit of respect I had for him I had when a few years ago he went out of his way to make sure the Veterans committee didn't vote in Ron Santo.
Total bush league move that wont be forgotten.

It isn't just Santo that they've snubbed; the Veterans Committee has never voted anyone in. They're about as relavent and useful as the UN.

HOOOOOLLLLYYYY COWWWWW!!!!! The Cubs must have lost??? Lots of announcer hate going on here.

For you young' uns, that was a Harry Caray reference.

A little research into baseball announcer history will show that it should have been a Halsey Hall reference.

I played a drinking game last night during the Home Run Derby. Each time Berman said "back" (as in "back, back, back, back, gone!"), I took a sip. I ended up drinking 163 beers.

I've always thought the ESPN announcers were bad, but last night during the Cubs-Cards game they reached a new level of suck. From the conversation about whether a baserunner breaking up a double play needs to actually touch second base or just be able to touch second base, to going on and on and on about having two Hoffpauirs in the game, they just could not resist beating a dead horse. It had to be the most painful call I've ever listened to.

ESPN seems to suffer from its monopoly status. It would be fascinating to know the
thought process they use in selecting and evaluating the people they choose to
do baseball games. Professional athletes do not become professional broadcasters
by being handed a mike. Suttcliffe, Boone et. al are boneheads with zero idea of how
stop themselves from killing the product. Verbose drones. Irritating vocal mannerisms.
But incompetents tend to surround themselves with other incompetents, therefore
the executives at ESPN must be a pathetic lot of nitwits.

MLB Network has it right, especially with their in studio talent. They may not have been stars, but they are top notch analysts.

They are not only entertaining, but they really share some great insight. The average viewer can learn something new about the game almost every night.
