Eric McKnight

Oh goodie--another "Why isn't Eric McKnight Playing" thread!

The immediate answer is--your expectations were both too high, and unfounded.

The reason Eric was signed was that he is very athletic--despite also being very raw. Personally, I thought that everyone understood that he would be redshirting if Fred had a choice. Once he starts to develop some skills, and understanding of the game to go with that length and athleticism--watch out!

I suppose that if he works hard and keeps learning, he might see some spot/emergency duty late in the conference season--but I'm not etching that in stone.

Thanks for the enlightening "oh mighty god of 7000 posts".

Don't worry about it, like every other board CF has it's share of tools that think everyone that posts spends every waking moment reading message boards. Personally I usually look at the last two pages of that forum, if the subject doesn't show up it's fair game. The really irritating responses are the ones that take one thought out of context and attack it making it very obvious they didn't even bother to read the entire post.

Amen. I haven't seen a previous thread about McKnight so thanks to the original poster for asking.

To those complaining about "another McKnight thread". Don't open it and read it. Simple as that. Who assigned you to be a Brownshirt?

Some people may be touvhy after a loss. A four pointer and then a three pointer. More than makes up for the JVB red line shot.

Recruiting is a Relative Term

For an "over-hyped" player he sure had some nice offers, based on the recruiting websites. Maryland, Wake Forest, Indiana, BC, Missouri? A bit surprising to now find out he's incapable of playing at ISU.

I don't think anybody said he is incapable of playing at ISU. I think most people said he is not ready to play at ISU. It's pretty obvious based on the PT he has received, he's not ready help ISU this year. He just isn't strong enough and his basketball skills are VERY raw.

This has nothing to do with the topic. But I didn't want start a new thread. Last week or something, someone said Scotty was introduced as a senior, but is listed as a junior. What's the deal there. I forgot to notice during opening lineups yesterday. Where will he play next year. Start at 1, or will he start ahead of Allen next year, or back him up at the 2?

From what I have been told he is not what the staff expected, if we are looking for an open scholarship it might be his next year. Way overhyped and not a great ball player. Potential maybe, but this program needs guys who can play now, not later.

I'm confused how he could "not have been what the expected". I know they didn't have a ton of time to scout players, but I would still think you'd watch a player enough to understand what you think they can do and what they are capable of before offering a scholarship.

There is absolutely 0 chance he's the starting PG.

I will be shocked if he doesn't start at the 2 guard next year....
Allen-1
Christopherson-2
Ejim-3
White-4
Booker-5
I think I'd rather have Railey start at the five. I think he will be really good once he gets bulked up. I really like his D. Hopefully he develops well throughout the year.

We will have some solid backups. Booker, Godfrey, Babb, Palo!

This is absolutly crazy. No way Railey starts over Booker. Railey has put together 2 ok games, none of which would earn a start on any Big 12 team. He is young and raw yet. He will be solid in time, but if you have ever watched Booker play you would understand the craziness of your thoughts. Thankfuly its a message board and it should bring about debate.

I think Babb is too talented not to start, and if Allen is as good as advertised and a possible NBA talent, then he will have to play PG in the league. Might as well start developing those skills in college. My preliminary guess:

Allen
Christopherson
Babb
Ejim
White

But honestly there are a lot of possible starting lineups. Hopefully McGee is also the real deal. Having athletic/energy guys like Sledge, Odunsi, Cook, Godfrey coming off the bench will be awesome. If everyone thinks were trying to get up and down this season, I think we will see an even bigger emphasis next year. We will be loaded with guards/wings, along with bigs who can run, a lot of good athletes. And defensively I want to see a lot more full court and trapping looks, and we'll have the depth to play really physical/aggressive.

I'm glad i don't have the difficult decision on who should start and how to divy up minutes next year. Lots of talent all the way down the bench. I'll tell you one thing foul trouble won't be too much of an issue next year.

Not going to guess who starts next year, but I have been very impressed with how much Railey has improved from his first action. I can't remember the game, but he was in for about 4 minutes and had 2 fouls, 2 TOs, and got abused in the post 3 times. I was thinking, wow, is he going to be a handicap this year. He hasn't done anything great, but at least it isn't as scary when he hits the floor.

I have not seen him play. And he's only 6'8'' to play the 5. That would be a small lineup.

We signed 3 PGs, wouldn't think we'd do that if Allen was going to start there. But I do like the idea of 3 shooters.

You left out McGee (who I think starts @ PG), Elgin Cook, Anthony Odunsi, and Tavon Sledge.

We might just have some talent floating around
