Ankeny
Whenever I drive by Ankeny on 35, my GPS shows a little town nearby called Enterprise. I had never heard of it before, so I googled it. Does anyone know if this is actually a town? On google maps, it just shows a couple of houses and farm buildings. I know this is random, but for some reason I have a fascination with tiny towns like this.

Yes, I am bored at the moment

Yup, used to be a little restaurant there.

Funny thing is, my dad and I were in a hotel restaurant in Denver about 15 years ago and these 2 guys next to us were talking and he said that restaurant was one of his favorite places to go. He said he was a truck driver and he stopped there one time and went back every time he was in town.

The town is about 100 yds long. Pretty hilarious.

That's funny there used to be a cafe there. I wish it was still open; I would love to check that out

Mackey, IA if you like small towns. What's left is a church, cemetery, 1-room schoolhouse, and 100 year old farm. Just 2 miles east of Highway 17, 2 miles west of County Line Road, just north of Boone/Ames.

Or if you like REALLY small towns, no food, check out Georgetown on Highway 34 west of Albia. There is a church, an old fill up station, two houses, and a cemetery.

If you like small town restaurants you should check out Darrel's Place in Hamlin, IA. They have delicious tenderloins, much like most small towns in Iowa.

I do enjoy a good tenderloin. Speaking of tenderloins, has anyone tried the ones at that place in Slater thats on the corner of the 4-way stop? I'm always tempted to make the 10 minute drive some night and give it a try

You can always check out Alpha, Iowa about 3 miles south of Waucoma. We used to go there in high school to get Alpha burgers (1 lb burgers with saute'd onions and green peppers). Not sure if the alpha tap and pool still exists though.
