Enough dwelling... onto Mizzou

Okay, Okie State is over and it's time to ask the tough questions...

Can ISU compete (and win) against a tough team in Mizzou after a loss like that?

Not to mention the whole stuck in Oklahoma, go straight to Columbia fiasco

Missouri has its flaws, but also a challenging upside if its press gets rolling.

Had ISU pulled it out at OSU, it could have been a springboard.

But I predict either a 76-72 loss with another late-game fade, or something we have yet to witness this season — almost everything goes wrong and it's a 79-58 drubbing.

Mizzou worries me. Long, athletic, and aggressive with the press. Haven't really seen that yet.

Plus the let down of losing the close one at Okie State gives me little confidence we can get a win.

Hope I'm wrong.

I don't envision a blowout loss...ISU has proved that they can and will play with the best that the Big 12 has to offer this year. However, road wins are just really tough to come by in conference play. If DG can beat the press and create some easy transition buckets for his teammates, they have a chance.
But I can't shake the nagging feeling that JVB is bound to fall victim to the law of averages and come back to earth with his 3 point shooting. The guy is shooting 73% from beyond the arc the last two games...how long can he keep that up?!
Like any good ISU fan, I hope they win. It could be their signature victory when it comes around to postseason tournament selection time.

True, but those were at Hilton. Okie St isn't really a top tier team imo. Mizzou has a relatively hostile crowd, and rarely lose at home. If they start executing the press and get the crowd into it, then it may be the longest 40 minutes to date. But if we limit the dumb turnovers that occurred in the last few minutes last night, then the opportunity will be there. Gotta make shots too, having Jamie, DG, and Scott hitting their threes could be the difference maker.

I'm looking at the Missouri game as I am about every other big 12 game we have. If we hit plenty of 3's and get a few breaks, we have a chance. But with no inside game and only freshmen on our bench, the potential for a bad loss is always out there.

I'm Sure the guys will be motivated to make up for such a terrible loss, but it's a bad opponent under a bad scenario to try to do it. I just can't imagine how much legs the guys have under them. A tough loss in overtime, combined with our starters playing pretty much the whole game is a double dose of exhaustion. Then throw in the fact that they go straight to Missouri... Not a great situation for physically rejuvenating.

I don't think we'll get pounded, but I think the final score will look a lot worse than the game seemed.
