Empty Seat Question

The only way that they had a point was if they were their seats. Which they surely would have mentioned.

I kinda get being a little salty if you had a open seat next to you and someone moved there, cutting into your elbow room. That's happened to me before. But they're just as entitled to it as anybody else.

Right. I do start to get salty though when our already tight row gets tighter because the big group down the row decides it is okay to seat 9 or 10 people in their 8 seats. At that point I make sure I am claiming my seat with my seat number squarely in the middle of my ass. I once put three in our two seats but my (younger then) son sat on my lap the entire game so I wasn't encroaching into other's seats.

Speaking of seats. Stadium built in 70's when I'd assume average male weighed around 170. Anyway, let's just say it's tight in those rows.

We tried to put 6 guys into our 6 seats last game. I had to stand sideways to make it work. Couple in front of us didnt come back for 2nd half so I jumped down and sat there.

For the first game this season we had three going for our two seats so we found another ticket. I went to the odd seat. Not long after a friend with a mobile ticket ended up showing up 4 rows directly behind me. I noticed that there were multiple still unoccupied seats next to him just before kickoff so I decided to move up by him until they showed up. They never did so I watched the whole game with him. I would gladly move if the seat owners showed up but they never did. I fail to see the problem.

First come, first served on something like that. If they don't like it, get someone you know there sooner. You buy a ticket with the expectation that there will be people in front of, next to and behind you and it shouldn't matter who those people are.

I can see both sides, but...if the seat isn't being used, the people that have the seats don't show up and you're not crowding someone, why get upset?

We had one game where only 4 of us were able to attend. We had 6 seats. We still fought to have enough room because the people to one side were notorious for bringing in extras. At another game, I was resting my foot on the seat in front of me (it was in a medical boot due to a foot fracture). The woman two seats over kept sliding closer until she was in the seat next to my foot. She kept giving me dirty looks. I thought she was going to say something and, if she did, was going to present the two tickets showing we paid for the seat she was in and the one my foot was resting on.

Is it ok to use an empty seat near your own seat in Jack Trice?
My season ticket seat is in the row right behind my oldest son's seat. Last Saturday at the Baylor game, there were 2 empty seats on my left side. My son moved back to my row to stand by me. As I said the seats had not been utilized by anyone in the early part of the game. There was a couple in the next 2 seats that told my son that "those seats were bought already and he couldn't sit there." My son said to them that if the occupant of the seat came he would move back but would like to stand by his dad. They started to get very upset. A person 2 or 3 rows behind the couple started to yell at my son to get out of the seat. My son did move back to his seat. He told me that while they were correct that the seat was not his, he felt that their response was way out reason. I totally agreed with him. BTW- No one ever sat in those seats the entire game.

If you want those seats or sit together - buy tickets to do so.

We used to have lower balcony aisle seats for both mens basketball and football so it was pretty common if we had a conflict that would make us arrive after the game started for people to be using our seats. I never had any issue with someone trying to sit there and if we couldn’t make it I’d rather have the seats used (although I’d usually give away or sell any extra tickets). But what would rub me the wrong way would be people that act somewhat entitled to the seats and either appear to be inconvenienced or demand proof that they’re your seats (like I’m going to randomly walk up to people and ask them to move from seats that aren’t mine so I can sit there).

If someone buys the seats, they have the right to have the extra room if they want. But it on them to say so, not some other rando

This is why I got seatbacks. Had some fat dude sit next to me for a few seasons when I was a kid, and I can assure you that they are so worth it in terms of claiming your space.

This is like 90% of the reason people get them I feel like. Not just for fat people but because sometimes people will have 4-5 seats together but then try to squeeze in another one.

I asked them if they had seats 18-21? Yes, we have pretty much the whole row, you need to move. Row 12? Yes, the whole row. You need to move. Section 4? This is section 5. No lady section 5 is over there. She then stormed off mad because I was right.

Usually it is a combination of wrong seat number, wrong row number or wrong section when there is confusion about seats.

Off topic, but seating related. DH and I entered a plane and sat in our seats. A woman comes in and says, "Oh, this is my seat. We glance at the ticket and sure enough, it's the same seat number. We call a flight attendant over, who is cautiously concerned and goes to the front of the plane while the three of us stand there. Pretty quickly she comes back and with a smile tells the woman that she won't have to sit on DH's lap. Because she's on the wrong flight.

I see people in SEZ sit it empty seats. Who cares? I'll move over a seat or two sometimes when people in front of me won't sit down. Nobody cares. Obviously, you give up the seat if the person who bought it appears. Otherwise, shouldn't matter to others. Now, keep in mind, SEZ has chairs with armrests. Nobody gets squeezed or has to put up with an extra person.
