What airport do most people fly into?

Where are you coming from exactly?

Panama City (ECP for "everybody can party") is usually a cheap airport.

I have had some clients in Pensacola and Tallahassee.

ECP always worked nice to split the difference.

Great for ISU. Not a whole ton of benefit for Minnesota

We actually flew into / out of Mobile, via Houston. I think it was a 2-hr drive to Pensacola / Ft. Walton / Destin area.

A LOT of options! You can fly directly into Destin Fort Walton Beach Airport-VPS which probably costs a little more.

When we went to the 2015 tournament, most of our group from Iowa flew into New Orleans and drove over (4 hours but lots of flights and cheaper options for rental cars). They said they would have allotted more time to tour the battleship Alabama in Mobile Bay as well!

Pensacola, FL and Panama City Beach, FL are bigger airports that are close as well.

Destin is a great destination and dirt cheap compared to Hawaii!

A lot of people flew into Atlanta last time. You can fly into Destin’s airport but I’m now sure how much more expensive it is. My wife and I drove last time since we stayed for a whole week and drove to visit some friends while we were down there.

iirc there’s a rule where teams have to wait 4 years between same events so even the Dukes and Kansas can’t go to Maui every other year.

The Emerald Coast Classic may not have the prestigious history of some other tournaments but like you said, some quality opponents.

Really the only other tournament id have liked to have seen isu in 2020 was Diamond Head so i had an excuse to go back to Hawaii haha

You don't want to go to Diamond Head. The location is great but flying back to start league play 4 or 5 days later sucks. I've heard several coaches say they won't go back just simply for that reason.

It was general admission. We sat in the first row of the actual stands (I think some big donors got to sit on the side of the court) for the Illinois game. For VaTech, we were maybe 5 rows up. Great little venue. I recommend the Holiday Inn that was listed on the event's website - right on the beach and a reasonable price.

Seats courtside (not actual stands) weren't general admission.

Yeah they started those flights in May of 2017 I believe. I was down there in April of 2017 and was pissed they didn’t start a month earlier lol. Are they still on the 2 days a week from Des Moines to Destin?

If people do try to rent a condo instead of a hotel, nearly all of them rent Saturday to Saturday. Which affects your flight choices.

KC has lots of directs to the area as well, some friends just flew in to Ft Walton Beach really cheap.

Heck of a field is correct. Should get a lot of eyes on ISU and get a good viewing window from ESPN/CBS/Fox.
