I was really high on Wendy's at one point in my life, but feel like their quality and service has suffered since Covid. McDonald's is the one constant in the fast food burger business that will always stand the test of time no matter what IMO.
Ames went from two to one slow ass ****** one.

Funny hearing people say McDonald’s is the most consistent. Didn’t they just change how they cook their burgers?

I think they just changed their QP’s from cooked from frozen to fresh. And their QP’s are ******* good.
According to this they did that like 5 years ago but have been tweaking the rest of their burgers recently.

Voted KFC just because it’s so easy to find better chicken without even spending much.

Don‘t mind Subway, but if given the option I’m choosing Jimmy John’s 99 times out of 100.

Chipotle isn’t bad, but not worth the hype it gets. Miss Pancheros, but Qdoba gets me by out in CO

Subway prices should not be an issue. They're always sending out coupons for 1/2 price or 2 for 1 deals. Right about the time one page of them expires they send out new ones.

Can't say I'm a huge fan but once in a while I can handle that.

I am shocked, shocked, I tell you, that my choice is the least picked store to get rid of. McDonald's sucks. It's never been any good. Why people love it is a mystery to me and always will be. It's not very healthy either, not that any of the others are any better, but at least they're tastier for the most part.

While I agree with most here that Burger King is, in almost every way, complete garbage 95% of the time, I still have to vote Starbucks for a couple reasons.

1) Burger King's onion rings, while a prime contender for the Subway sandwich phenomenon (not really even being the thing they advertise anymore, but a new product entirely), are way better than they have any right to be, especially paired with their horseradish-heavy Zesty sauce. I prefer them over any other mass-produced fry or onion ring.

2) I considered Chick-fil-A because of their garbage political views and because I simply think the Popeye's chicken sandwich is about 100 times better (would never pay for Chick-fil-A, but have had it at work conferences), but I respect their right to be bigots and refuse to try to force my beliefs on them (if only they would do the same).

3) Starbucks coffee isn't very good. I'm not a coffee snob, but I don't really get it. It's just not very good and their teas are comparable to something you could get at Target for $2.99 per 900 bags and make at home.
Regarding Starbucks, my daughter says McDonalds sources their beans from the same place.

She worked there for a while. But was also 16 at the time, so take it FWIW.

McDonald's coffee is actually pretty good. Also their diet coke is better than any other place for some reason

Had subway recently, for the first time in several years. I was astounded at how poor the quality was compared to their competitors. Places like Jersey Mike's/Firehouse/Potbelly/etc are very noticeably better.

When did Ames lose it’s BK?

I remember many late night stops in high school there at the one in campus town. But that was in the 90’s.
Don't remember when exactly, but its been over year (Edit: Looks like it was in May 2022). Both Ames locations and the one in Boone closed at the same time because the owner of all 3 died. Honestly, outside of going to Des Moines, options for BK have become pretty slim these days.

As for KFC, they are on my **** list now. A friend and I ordered 8 chicken tenders to share, just the tenders, and we didn't pay any attention to the price. When I saw a bill for $20 on my credit card, I thought it was a mistake. It wasn't.

The one I'd miss most is Taco Bell. But I cleaned up my diet, went low carb, and haven't eaten even one bite of fast food in over four years. And I never will eat a bite of fast food again. Real food only, zero fake food.
