There aren't going to be many that will be able to come back with the incoming freshman class and the scholarship limit. Even if they can have additional scholarships for 1 year, ISU isn't in a spot to be handing out a lot more scholarships.I’m pretty sure we already said anyone who wants to come back is guaranteed their spot. Other schools might not but that’s their loss in recruiting.
Yeah, this is why I still haven't wrapped my head around the long-term implications of everything going on. It is going to have to sort itself out before 4-5 yrs down the road. Too much money involved to have the pipeline back-logged like that.Yes the seniors, but what about everybody else? The freshmen right now all get another year. Sophs and Jr too. That means these guys can play 5 (6) years as well. This will have an effect for at least the next 4 or 5 years
I recall CMC mentioning that Sean Foster will finish his Masters in the Spring as well.Per the DMR article, Akers is getting his Masters the end of this semester, right? I doubt he wants to work on another advanced degree.
They are either raising the roster limits for one year (from 85), or making specific exemptions to that 85 limit for ‘20 seniors who come back in ‘21. I haven’t seen which specified yet.Giving guys another year takes away opportunities for younger guys, not really on board with that especially when a nearly full season is being played. So do you tell your recruits sorry, no scholarship for you because we are giving player X a sixth year. Are we going to let all the high school players play another year to make of for the year stolen from many of them.

It’s a one year thing, but there’ll be no reason to shortchange ‘21 HS seniors
IF we win the Big 12 championship and I’m a senior I’d think long and hard about ending on a high note. Being 24/25 you’re ready to start the next phase in life.
@nrg4isu I'm curious to what you disagree with about my post?

And don’t forget that some of these guys already have families. Another year hanging around campus and playing football for another year is cool and everything, but not if you have responsibilities. This scenario definitely is going going to make things interesting. If you are already a senior or reshirt senior and don't project to be drafted after this season I doubt another year is going to change that because you'll now be a year older and another season of your body getting banged up. Also a lot of these guys were already making decisions prior to this season about what to do after college so is another year of FB worth passing up a job offer for what you had planned to do after graduation? I'm sure there will be some guys that want to stick around and have one more year to play before they move on to life after college and football but probably will be more that will be ready to turn in their cleats for what they had planned to do all along and move on with the next phase of their life.

1) all seniors ARE able to come back by NCAA rule and according to Pollard. The incoming freshman class has zero bearing on those seniors decisions, roster limits, etc. For seniors it's a completely free (rule wise) do-over year.
2) Pollard has specifically said (apparently) that anyone who wants to come back will be able to. I haven't seen anything that suggests this has changed.
The only argument that I could see would be the financial burden of the extra year for a handful of seniors... I count 17 seniors, I don't think anyone thinks they'll all come back. Someone else on this board said a scholarship year is worth in the neighborhood of 55k. I'd guess you're looking at around half a mil for returning seniors. I'm betting the athletic department can find that somewhere.
Things can change, but at this point I disagree with your post.
