Eli King??

We do not have a consistent legitimate scoring threat as a guard.

We required a 31 point performance from a guy who has shot 12% from 3 in Hilton since last January to beat a decent but not elite UNC team.

I would say what happened at Iowa is closer to the norm than beating UNC.

I'm going to guess somewhere in the middle and what that means in the end, who knows.
But if the horrible defense like at Iowa is a norm than there's bigger issues.

Well Fran didn't remove starters until < minute remained even though we stopped trying to compete much earlier and he had a 20+ point lead for nearly the entire game.
IMO it the team that is behind that should substitute first. No coach wants to lose a game or even be forced to bring starters back in after they have sat 3-4 minutes game time.

I agree that unless he is looking to redshirt Eli King, if it's even an option, the Hawk game was a great opportunity to give Eli extended minutes over the last 10.

I don't feel Eli not playing is an indictment on his skill or effort- he's just a freshman behind upperclassman than TJ trusts A LOT in Kalacheur, Holmes and Grill.

Lipsey is a true PG, so minutes are available based on our upperclassmen. And Lipsey has delivered- his impact is a big surprise for me.

guard play against iowa was poor overall. #3 played his normal game; but he's not an outside shooter. Gives you a steady 6-10 a game. The other guys lack confidence. It got to a point they were just relieved to hit the rim. Gabe will give you that one or two games a year where he's on fire, but mostly a defender. Holmes & Grill roll players being forced into being the man; hopefully they can figure it out; or it will be a long season.
*role; as opposed to pick-and-roll

I don't know about his defense, but his stroke is pretty smooth. This kid has been a shooter all his life. I bet he kills Grill in a game of horse!!
