Eli king?

I realized most of you weren't born yet, but after Dedric's first few games everyone was wondering why the hell Floyd brought him to ISU.

Willoughby?

Plenty of CFers know who that is.

That 96-97 team lost to Marquette to close out the non-conference season in HIlton, and was a little spotty in conference play at times.

I'm surprised someone doesn't start a thread about how much they hated that team.

I was in the Knapp to see the 2000 team get beat. Well actually I went down the street and watch the last 5 minutes at the Westport. Thinking WTF is this ****.

Worst in-person game I’ve ever been to and I’ve been to around 125 ISU basketball games in my life.

It very could be recency bias but my worst game to view in person may just be last year’s Big 12 Tournament game against TTU. Lost by 31, scored 41 points, shot 31% from the floor and 20% from 3. Got out-rebounded by 16 and turned the ball over 20 times.

It was so awful lol. And I remember not getting too mad about it because of the grind of the conference season and the fact that we were still going to make the tournament, but man was that demoralizing.

I'm excited for his future, but I don't think he's a "crazy" athlete. He is athletic enough at this level. Grill is a better athlete. His success will be dependent on making shots, kinda like a Naz Long type development.
Eli King is most definitely an elite athlete. We won’t see a more explosive, physically gifted athlete until Billew arrives on campus. I’m guessing he has a nagging lower extremity injury that is resulting in his slow, shuffling on court movement currently.

Eli just not quite there on D yet..

Typical for True Frosh

It’s why D Watson will play 10-12 min game . He plays good D..

Nothing else
Watson's been a pleasant surprise to me so far. I mean, it's hard to guage freshman coming in, but I really like what I see from him up to this point.

ISU was just kind of scraping by. Tech probably wins by 10-15 going away in a 'normal' game but they might have played their best game of the season that night which doesn't help.

Let's not get carried away here. Is he athletic? Yes. Explosive? I'd wager there are plenty of guys on the current roster more 'explosive ' than the 6'2" white kid from Caledonia

That beat down was maybe a blessing in disguise. Thank you for your sacrifice

Not sure why King is not playing, even in last 5 minutes of a blowout.
He does play in the last 5 minutes of blowouts (games 1 and 2).

He didn't play yesterday because the game wasn't decided until there was about a minute left.

Is the plan just to give Lipsey as many minutes as possible to get him ready for conference play? It sounded like after the Williams injury that King was going to be on the ball this year as well didn’t it?

IMO he has to be ready to shoulder some load or the conference season gets interesting. In a bad way.

Lipsey is a pure point guard. I think King is a different kind of player and not a real replacement for Tamin. My guess is that he will lead the team in minutes this season. It’s the only position that doesn’t have clear alternatives, and a lot of that is a credit to Tamin.
