Ejim or Basabe

He's plays 24 minutes a game because in some he's completely ineffective and the coach sits him.
For the most part he goes huge game, goose-egg, huge game, goose-egg to come up with those stats.
He's good but cellar-dweller teams tend to have freshmen getting stats (hence the Ejim or Basabe thread title).

Ya you're completely wrong, sorry. I take it you don't watch the games and that's fine. But the reason he plays 24 minutes a game is because he plays wreckless at times and gets into foul trouble early. Take the Northwestern game on Thursday for example, he got 2 early fouls and played only about 6 minutes in the first half. It has nothing to do with him being ineffective and therefore being benched.

There is a difference between "wreckless" and undisciplined. Plus, in a season that is going nowhere, Fran is not going to inhibit his aggressivenss. Right now it is about showing recruits how they will be utilized.

I like Basabe, and I think if he improves his skillset, he will make a lot of money playing this game. BUT, Melvin is a more well rounded and complete player at this stage, I don't see how people can't just admit that.

It wouldn't surprise me if Basabe doesn't show more development, because he has a lot more to work on that Melvin does at this point. There is just a lot more that he needs to work on.

Plus, Melvin is playing out of position, it will be interesting to see what he can do when he is playing in position. His upside is very great, if he works.

Well, since BOTH programs are in the same boat with a lack of talent, I feel better about the influx of talent that we have coming in next year than I am sure that you do about your hawks.

Fred and Fran both have a long ways to go to narrow the talent gap that they each face. Fred has addressed a big part of it much quicker than fran has in ic.

I know that you were just being ****** and that is fine, jealousy does funny things to people.:sad:
 
Ejim is a jumpshot away from becoming a really effective player. CFH has said that is what he has to do this summer to really step up his game. If defenders have to play him tighter because he can knock down some shots then that will make the game much easier for him.

I thoroughly enjoy watching Basabe play and would love him as a Cyclone. He was an absolute steal for Iowa and the best immediate benefit of Fran becoming coach.

Right now I would take Basabe because he has shown he is more ready for the grind of major college basketball but I think Melvin will be better in 3 years and has a better chance at playing professionally.

What are you watching? The coach has set his *** at least 5 times during the conference season.

Isn't getting 2 early fouls and playing about 6 min in the 1st half ineffective? Just like Ejim this year, both have been effective and ineffective at times.

It depends. If it's a day of the week where we have a game scheduled, I'm taking Ejim. The rest of the days of the week, I'm choosing Basabe. The house needs cleaning and I need a sammich.

wow, I had no idea how much Basabe had plateaued. I guess Fran must have held back his fabled player development abilities for Woodbury.
 
Yep...Basabe is consistent for sure....consistently average. Ejim on the other hand....really stepped up his game this year.
