EIU Raising Their Average (The Apple Debate)

Re: EIU Raising Their Average

Hmmm... My take... You had 14 others arrested before you, why chance it. I know your a kid but come on.

I got arrested once in a bar underage... Guess what.. I didn't do it again. Gotta man up if your Iowa's players and realize your under a magnifying glass and you need to be smart.

Ah, but that is the problem -- Kirk's brainiacs are barely able to walk upright. How can you expect them to know to stay out of trouble or to be able to study the playbook enough to beat MAC teams?

Re: EIU Raising Their Average

Little things like this in current state of affairs may warrant KF to enact a curfew or something to the like of one.

Typically this isn't a big deal, but taken in light of the recent troubles it is a bit more newsworthy.

Kind of like the Berryman situation. He wasn't the first college kid underage in a bar, and he won't be the last. But he had so much riding on his future and the 3rd chance he had been given, it was stupid to risk it. Similarly, if you're on a team that is already a laughing stock for all their recent troubles...don't risk it!

Burns, please stop posting or at least think before you post. In case you forgot we did lose to 2 MAC teams ourselves last year and a I-AA.

If you are going to talk smack at least make sure we didn't accomplish the same thing by not being able to beat bad football teams.

I'll respond for him.

Yeah, but EIU fans think Captain Kirkie can get away with murder over in that garbage dump. Squawk fans think they are going to win championships every year, so them losing to a MAC team at home is far worse than what we could do with a new coach.

Of course, what else can we expect? Half of their team is in jail, so I guess maybe Squawk fans should have expected to lose to the super power that is Western Michigan.

Hey, that was easy! That took absolutely no thought whatsoever!

Re: EIU Raising Their Average

Hmmm...15 arrests/run-ins with the law in 12 months.

15-12 Some other not-so-great numbers in IU's recent past.

I'm starting to feel sorry for KF. He doesn't deserve this crap. If I were in his place, I think I would have to go drastic and kick a guy off the team. Right in front of the rest of 'em. Have to show the team your not messing around anymore.

Re: EIU Raising Their Average

So part of the logic for the amount of arrests for the football team is the Iowa City police department is tougher on PAULAS than the Ames PD.

So why do we never hear about a women's basketball player, golf team, field hockey, gymnastics, softball or any other women's sport being arrested? After all, the iowa city PD is really tough on players. Either the female players do not drink or do drink but are damn lucky to not get caught?

Or, Kirky boy is having trouble maintaing his boys from drinking underage and getting caught. I guess if your teammates have been arrested/accused of credit card fraud and rape, what is the big deal about a PAULA?

Re: EIU Raising Their Average

PAULA does not = arrest.

Just saying.

Good point. I have to stop assuming that whenever I see a Hawk's name in the paper, it's for an arrest. Not sure what would have led me to those assumptions.

You've heard the old saying, "15 bad apples spoil the lot."

Actually, I found an article for this. It's about Enron, and bad apples. I dunno, I was just trying to find something about bad apples not actually spoiling the entire lot, but I found this. Does one bad apple spoil the entire bunch? (by Tom Mitsoff) - Media Monitors Network

And for what it's worth, bad apples only ruin apple sauce. Or pies. Not all of the other apples.

I'm not sure about kicking the guy off the team but apparently the message still isn't getting through to some of them. This alone isn't a big deal but coupled with recent run ins it's yet another bad light shone on the football team. Where are the seniors/leaders on the team to smash some of these idiots over the head?
