Evidently Fred wants to stick with a 8 man rotation. IMO Edozie should be playing some, especially against a guy as strong as Gathers.
 
He is the strongest player they have. Against a player like Gathers he should be playing.
 
I thought he would have been a good idea against their defensive linemen, at least for some minutes. Georges didn't really contribute much this game until the final minutes.
 
This game would've been perfect to let MM/Niang/BDJ shoot from outside and let Edozie and McKay board up on any potential long rebounds.

Disappointed not to see Edozie out there on Gathers.
 
Has anybody ever asked Hoiberg about this in a press conference? Come on CW, do your job! CF wants to know.
 
We know he's not a threat on the offensive side but getting at least a few of those rebounds could have changed the game. It felt like Baylor has 30 points off offensive rebounds!

I gotta agree that it would be nice to see Edozie come in for at least a few minutes to body up Gathers and see what he can do. He might at least prevent some of those offensive rebounds and might also help get Gathers tired having to battle someone.

The thing is though you don't need him to be a threat on the offensive side. His offense literally does not matter, only his rebounding and defense do.

This. We're working towards a B12 championship and March. Getting a rotation down with McKay coming in when he did is going to be important later on in the season. Fred is a student of the NBA and that is how it's done there.

Yep. And it wasn't so much our offense that lost us this game, it was our defense and rebounding. And it's not like Edozie wont get a basket or two when he is on the court (he is also dependable on the charity stripe....something else this team needs right now).

Nba coaches use role players to their advantage all the time. It's the reason Kendrick Perkins stayed with Oklahoma city for so long, he could guard true big men really well like a handful of times a season.

Yes, if that role player is part of the rotation then they use them, but you aren't going to see a guy that hasn't played for 3-4 games just come off the bench out of the blue and get minutes.

If it helps keep their starting three forwards from getting 50 points and 30 rebounds a little bit, absolutely you do.
