How many times does the average guy look at a girl's chest while in a bar...unemployment rate's would just skyrocket if every guy that was at a bar got fired for checking out a girl's chest.

See this is where I have a problem. I just think the guy was having a lot of fun after a big win.

I would say we are already there as a society. It has been reported over the last few years that most hiring managers use google and social networking sites to look at potential employees during the hiring process. I don't agree with it but I am much more aware of my online presence then I ever used to be. I also make sure I monitor what is posted to my facebook/myspace and also pictures of me on the sites of those I know. I still have no control over the scenario you spoke of, if a stranger takes my pic and posts it.
I saw the pictures about 3 days before they ended up on CF. My hawk friends (ugg) were emailing them around.
Just because the guy is tipsy on new year's night doesn't necessarily mean he has a problem...these pictures don't tell anything other than he was probably tipsy, and he was checking a girl out...I don't even see how it relates to previous run-ins with alcohol he may have had, other than people being able to poke fun of him....rough, rough, break for Ed just trying to celebrate on New Year's Night after a big bowl win.
I'm basing my opinion that he has a drinking problem on this incident, his public intox where he blew a .23, the alleged incident where he was found naked on a park bench on campus, stories of him being partially sloshed during broadcasts, and stories of him "participating" at Iowa tailgates.
Maybe he has his drinking under control, but this seems like a pattern to me. I could be wrong.
Well when you put it that way....it kind of sounds as though he shouldn't have been doing games in the first place!
I feel sorry for Ed. He loved what he did and was good at it, but the demon rum marred his judgment. I think what he needs now is support - not bashing. I'm older and still remember watching the famous overtime game between the Chiefs and the Dolphins...Podalak had a hell of a game -- did everything he could to win it for KC, but it wasn't meant to be.

I don't believe Ed was fired, and I think there were options set before him, and he wanted to go a different direction.
Go to AA and keep your job, retire, or be fired? I honestly don't know, but that's the first thing that came to me when I heard about this. Society has kind of programmed us to assume that scenario, I think.
I have heard the rumors that Podolak has been a lot less than sober at the Hawkeye broadcasts. But if I were a Hawkeye I would want to be drunk all the time too.
That being said, Podolak has a certain public image to maintain. He does represent the University of Iowa whether he works for them or not. It was stupid of him to conduct himself in that way in a very public place. I know he was just having fun and didn't hurt anybody. But public perception is a very big part of his job. He should have known better.

Couldn't Kirky just have ordered DJK to photo shop to pictures to make it look like Eddie was looking at Herky or something? I thought it was part of DJk's job to clean up Hawkeye messes, especially ones involving females?
