Early Cyning Day

I know! I know! The porn industry! Ugh...or so I was told....
Heh, actually from what I understand it was any and all types of movies because VHS could record and store 2 hours as opposed to Beta's 1 hour.

Anyway, "Porn killed Beta" never gets old. Lolz.

As someone old enough to remember Betamax and actually owning one this is more correct, but I think you guys are missing the point. It’s not which had superior tech, it is that technology advances and eventually vhs was taken over by dvd, then blu-Ray, now UHD and digital. So the fact that fax is still used is amazing, and saying that fax tech is more advanced today than 20 years ago shouldn’t matter because there is absolutely no reason that new tech hasn’t made fax machines a relic by now, just like Betamax. Why don’t they just sign digital documents? These kids have only ever done digital and probably find it weird signing actual paper. But we are way off topic now.

Back to the original topic, I am seeing on cbs and espn that we have the 5th ranked Big 12 recruiting class behind Baylor, but on other sites I am seeing us as the 4th right behind TCU and ahead of Baylor. Which rankings do most people find more accurate?

Also- how many more could we expect to sign between now and February? Brock Purdy was one helluva late pickup. 'Crootin ain't over yet...

Seems to me most people think ESPN recruiting rankings are a joke. 247 Sports is the apparent favorite around here. 247 also has us 5th behind Baylor.

Alabama has a nice start to 2020 with 11 verbals. Not a single 5 star....It appears Saban could be running out of gas :)

Since we're throwing our 'better technology lost', let us all not forget the absolute most unforgivable act by a company. Zenith and CPM were vastly superior to Intel and Microsoft. But, like most companies with superior technology, they lose because they hold it too close to the vest. Microsoft, from the beginning, opened their OSes up to the masses. Zenith did not. Apple did not. And low and behold look how it turned out. Now you might say Apple is ok now. You are correct, but do you know why? Really simple: Steve Jobs learned from his mistakes. He introduced the iPod which had very limited competition. And when the iPhone cam out, he opened it up immediately. We can discuss how Microsoft absolutely played IBM by back dooring Windows 3.1 and faking the whole OS/2 thing. Brilliant. IBM was suckered. The rest is history.

Seriously? You want to talk about this in the Early Cyning Day thread? The only "technology" I care about is The Process!

This is the best (and perhaps most under-appreciated) recruiting class for Campbell.

There is much less excitement to signing day than there was a decade ago. The reporting now is so widespread and detailed, and social media keeps everyone up to date that it seems like signing day is just literally crossing T's and dotting the I's.

No real surprises today, which is very nice. Just a few years ago there was half a dozen guys that decided to go elsewhere or didn't qualify, and half a dozen guys that we had never heard about. As I said before Hall was the guy that really concerned me when KU and KSU hired new coaches that would be looking to capture in state talent in a last ditch effort. Who knows, maybe both coaches reached out to him and he told them to go away.

See KU came in with 11 recruits and a solid last place in the Big 12, class is rated 104. I'm sure someone will be by shortly to tell me it is a great class and there is still plenty of time to make it a lot better.

Considering they only had 1 less than a month ago, its a start for them. Still terrible though.

Randomfan was really defending Les, and saying KU was sure to be in a bowl game next year, and that they had converted 2 3 stars. I suspect that a lot of the guys that they signed were guys that his assistants were after before they were hired by KU. CMC had, what, 2 months to put together his first class and most of his class was guys he was after at Toledo.
